This very question is why I don't like porn. I honestly never gave it much thought until I became a parent. I didn't watch it and I didn't have much of an opinion about other people watching it.
Then I became a parent. I can't get past the idea that all of the people on the screen or in the magazine are somebody's children - even though they aren't children. I know Mr B used to look at porn. I don't know if he still does or not, I don't think so, but I would ask him if he wanted someone watching his daughters perform sex acts for pay in a few years and how the thought of that bothered me a lot.
I think it can be compared to a spouse joining the 'industry'. I will love, honor, and cherish my children even when they are no longer children. I would be equally upset if my children chose that career as I would if my spouse chose it. There's a slight difference. I wouldn't disown my children whereas I would probably divorce my spouse.
One of the other large questions here -- what does a parent do if the child does something truly abhorrent to the parent? Even assuming the parent's goal is to get the child to stop, what is the best way to do that?
I dont think there is a way to 'stop' a child from doing anything when they are adults.
I mean, you can go to an extreme, take them somewhere where they are faced with the STD statistics of porn actors. Show them the people chai mentioned ( wich is very true ) .
What most people dont realize about porn is that the 'stars' dont ever meet each other. They just get a phone call , if they have a phone, respond either yes or no to a scenerio, then show up. Do it, go home.
Alot of people romanticize the porn industry and think that it is people really ' getting it on' and enjoying it. Well.. thats crap . That is why they are called actors.
In anyone given day an actor / actress can do several scenes with MANY people in just a few hours. Sex with out attachment is an understatement.
Lost of damage happens to peoples bodies as well because noone cares about what happens to the rectum during anal sex.. they just want the ' pounding shot' for the film... Its all about the money.
You can tell and show your child all of that. But would it stop them? And if it didnt , would you as a parent do more? Or just accept it?
I might have to watch one of these porno movies. Just to see what all the fuss is about.
