THIS is what Set was talking about.

There is no EXACT set standard for cute, hot or ugly. There is a semi-universal standard for beauty in that humans find symmerty of the face more attractive than non-symmetry.

My use of these words would be:

Cute - nice boyish face, guy is generally younger than me.

Hot - everything is zinging like crazy, I want to boff him NOW!

Handsome - I can objectively look at his features and say they are presentable and pleasing to the eye but I don't feel a real life attraction to him. This is used a lot in dating ads (Tall, Dark, Handsome) but it is so bland a description.

Attractive - not necessarily physically beautiful but personality or aura is creating some zinging that you would want to get to know this one better.

I think these words vary so much from person to person and situation to situation that their real meaning is in the eye of the beholder (or voicebox of the complimenter).

heeven, you are right in that these words can mean a diffrent .. sort of... level of attraction.
BUT- they all mean the same thing.. " I am attracted to you"

i personally dont use handsome, cute etc.
Doesnt mean that because I use the word HOT that it has any LESS meaning behind it. I just like the word.

hmmm, maybe i am just odd. i love it when people look at me. regardless of looks or gender. when a gay woman looks at me, i think, damn i must be hot cuz otherwise she wouldn't look at me. i guess i see it as the more people who look, the more think i am beautiful. its all flattering to me.
