Joe, with a wind chill level of "holyshit" you should be losing weight just by shivering! LOL.

All this excersise-ugh. Might do a killer one mile walk today if I can convince the skinny cowboy to come with me.

So far, so good. No sweets for two days. The longer I go, the less I feel the urge to splurge.

Diane--

No sweeties for two days is a very creditable start.

Sugar cane has been said to be a retaliation from the downtrodden third world against the plundering, expansive Europeans.

170.5 Smile

Now, if I can just hold on through the weekend. I'm going to a chili dinner tonight but the rest of the weekend is open. Mr B returns from Las Vegas tonight and after 3 full days of restaurant meals he'll be ready to eat simply for a few days. Exercise today will be inner/outer thighs. No cardio unless I count the housework I plan on doing.

Good job on avoiding the sweets, Diane. Walking brings me peace, even when I'm walking fast.

I had a lovely outing planned for today and had to cancel last night. I figure I probably consumed 1000 unnecessary calories--but at least I stopped when I began to feel over-full.

Today is another beginning.

J_S, so true about walking being a peaceful time for meditation and letting go the unnecessary tensions. I always feel better, even in summer when I come home sweaty. I hate to sweat!! That is a leftover from menopause that is my bane.

Noddy, you have a way with words that makes me always smile or nod in agreement:

"Some fat cells are prone to lengthly farewells."

How I wish Dys and I could be there in NYC with you and ehBeth.

Sometimes, once in a while, the scale can be kind. I had been too wimpy to look for a couple of weeks. I have lost six pounds! Thirty six more to go. At 5'1" all those pounds make a huge difference in how I look; more important is how much better my joints feel.

It looks like dominions are being held. YAY!

Huge Sigh...
I did it!! I ran an entire 5 km. Brisbane had a Women's International Day Fun Run and on the spur of the moment I decided I would enter! I didn't sleep a wink last night! I had to get up at 5:00 to ride my bike over to the event site to register by 6:00; the race didn't start until 7:30 am and by then I was ready for a nap Wink
My 21 year old son ran along side me for support Smile It is the first time I have run a road race since my accident in 2002 Smile I am pumped now and ready for more!!
I reckon I just might sleep well tonight Smile

Thanks for the encouragement Noddy Wink I reckon I should throw a bon voyage party for all my fat cells...maybe that would trick them into leaving???

Good job on shedding six pounds Diane! What is your secret? I am not a whole lot taller than you and I know what you mean...every pound shows!

How did you go with your weekend JB? Hope it went well Smile

I am sure you held your own Joe(looking good)Nation Smile

Diane--

Moderate your lust for pleasant memories, please. I'm hoping to be able to get away to NYC at the end of April, but a lot depends on my husbands health. Missing connections with ehBeth is sufficient disappointment for anyone.

Meanwhile you have the glories of Europe ahead of you.

Ay--

I'm impressed--particularly that you regard a 5k race as a beginning. Hold your dominion.

2 pounds down after rip to India. There I identified a perfect diet - eat only with your own hands, preferably hot spicy sauce with rice. guaranteed small portions, you're bound to give up after half an hour!

dak--

If you hear a scritch-scritching on your bedroom window pane tonight that is probably my green-eyed monster. Exotic travel, contributions to world peace and weight loss.....you're amazing.

There will definitely be a scritch-scritching--perhaps at more than one window.

With this horrible jetlag of mine, I will be up most of the night. I will be glad if a green eyed monster keeps me company. Does the monster come with a body of a greek god? that would be very appreciated, thankyou.

Hello All

Good work being done, I see, if not every day by everyone! Smile

I'm back from a ski holiday in Chamonix, France. Lots of off-piste bump runs and other sweat-inducing skiing was offset by more drinking and eating than I would have done at home.

So I was hoping to have stayed about the same weight, when I stepped onto the scales this morning.

To my delight Very Happy I found that I had lost 4lbs since before I went away - I was clearly being careful enough with my portions and choices (no cheese fondue for me!). That's a total loss of 18.3lbs (8.3kg) since I started on 18 January.

I'm feeling fitter, as well, though I managed to twist my ankle during a big wipe-out so I'll need to keep impact exercise down to a minimum for a few weeks.

Must work now. KP

Wow, Ay, your run sounds impressive and your son sounds like a sweetie.

Dasha, everything Noddy said. What a gutsy little gal you are.

KP, losing while vacationing is defintely the stuff of legend. Sorry about your ankle. Now it will take a different kind of determination to keep those pounds off.

BTW, Ay, I tend to lose quickly at first, then it tapers off to a slow or moderate rate--only if I am very careful.

Well done Dag and KP! Maybe I need to go on vacation to lose weight. It never seems to work out that way for me though.

Back up to 172 today after a food-filled weekend. No alcohol, but more than enough junk food to make up for it.

I still lost a bit last week overall so progress is progress, I guess.

Yesterday: 35 mins on treadmill with speed intervals, chest and back exercises.

Today: 30 mins on treadmill at 4.1 mph, 24 mins on bike at level 3, shoulders and abs exercises.

It's absolutely true. I was an enviable 135 lbs in India, for 3 yrs, and always ate what I wanted. Constant state of flux, though.... perhaps i should go back.

130 this morning--9 days to lose a pound.

Of course I was not absolutely sensible and abstemious for those nine days, either.

Nine days times 15-20 pounds....
