Be careful. Last magic pill I tried I woke up under a potted plant in Dracut.

For the last week I've been battling a nasty cold with post nasal drip and a scratchy throat. To sooth my throat, I've been sipping herbal teas and discovered that the hot, flavored water tends to supress my appetite. I lost a pound without conspicuous self-denial.

Brilliant, Noddy - that'll put the drug companies out of business in no time! But maybe they'll buy you off...

I've still got an innertube around my middle. Shopping with a relative yesterday, I got a real good look at myself in a full-legnth department store mirror and it was disheartening, to say the least. I've lost twenty-plus pounds, practically all of the weight I gained after giving up the cigarettes, but still can't find my waistline. I just don't know what to do about it and thinking more and more seriously about liposuction.

Clary--

All sorts of herbal teas particularly designed to promote weight loss are on the market. I'm pretty good at detecting snake oil masquerading as exotic herbs from the mysterious East and I've never bought any of the weight loss teas.

Now I suspect they may help to supress the appetite--as would any mixture imbibed frequently in hot water.

Eoe--

Aren't department store mirrors brutal? Even worse is an unexpected reflection in shadowed glass.

I know you've been exercising. How is the pinch test working?

I'm still pinching a handful on both sides and it's quite frustrating, to put it mildly. I STILL can't wear my beautiful fashions all because of this roll around the middle. AAAAAAARRRRRGGGH!!

Years ago my mother gave me a hideous little exercise wheel. Usually it gathers dust, but when I'm of a mood for self improvement it flattens the abdomen, bust to crotch.

I'm not sure about love handles. My fat accumulates front & center--in all the heart unhealthy places.

Since the election I've put on two pounds in mourning.

Would someone remind me this is a Bad Idea?

How are the rest of you doing?

Holding every pound of my dominion, Noddy!

Haven't lost anything in the last month, but haven't gained, either. I have yet to figure out which foods will satisfy me now that chilly weather is here.

Good for you. Inspiration from Venus on the half-shell should help the mourning munchies.

I'm impressed with your stability.

It's not really bothering me that I haven't lost more. I just had to buy new clothes, and I'd really like to be able to wear them for awhile.

But the days of grilling outdoors almost every day and filling up on light, chilled fresh fruit are gone. It's sweater weather now. And that makes it harder to stay away from heavy foods. I'm searching...

The baseball playoffs killed me. Going out every night, staying up too late. Again, I'm not looking to lose weight, but increase muscle. And like how some people easily gain weight/fat, I easily lose muscle+weight if I'm not in the gym consistently.

So for the past couple months, I haven't been in as consistently as usual, missing a bunch of days. Now my body looks like crap, I'm not THAT weak, but have lost some strength. But I'm ready to hit it hard for a while.

What are you doing Slaps? Free weights or machines?
I used to work out with a guy who would complain about losing weight when he didn't keep up his workouts. Drove me nuts.
(Bench pressing with this guy was hilarious. Load'em up for Shue; take'em off for George. Lesson in humility.)

I do a mix of both. Mostly free weights, with some machines.

And I like it too...as much as I like realizing I'm out of toilet paper when it's too late.
