Mac--

We must have cross posted.

Odd that the same muscles that tighten up on in belly dancing ache after the first day of hands-and-knees vigorous weeding.

I must have over feasted yesterday. Shocked Actually, this is definitely water weight. We went out for Korean last night --- it was gooooood. Fruit today.

Bragging a bit.

For the last several weeks I've noticed that my Size 12 slacks have been getting baggier and baggier. Today I went shopping with my friend, The Wardrobe Mistress, who pursues BARGAINS.

I tried on Size 10 and found they were too large. I have four new pairs of slacks--all on sale--Size 8.

Mind, my waist is still exceedingly flabby and if it weren't for my flowing draperies I'd be flashing a muffin top that would feed a Starving Armenian Village, but Size 8!

I haven't been a Size 8 for a long time.

OK, Thomas & mac11, now you've done it!
I've got "Time Warp" playing in my head.

It makes for an odd jogging pace.

Why Armenian ?!?! Evil or Very Mad

..kidding. Congrats! I, too, will fit into size eight sooner or later (probably later).

Thomas, congrats on the new plan. Perhaps you'll notice results by the way your clothes fit?

Won't you feel the difference in the way your clothes fit? Or don't fit?

Actually, I find it hard to tell if clothes are more spacious because I've lost weight, or because my expanding body has expanded them with it.

Rather than contemplate the mutability of cloth, consider the implacable belt buckle.

Dag--

My family has been reflexively commenting on the Starving Armenians for four generations.

I've never met any Starving Armenians, but I consider them referential cousins.

Amazing ~~ this feast/fast cycle was up three/down four. The alternating fruit days are supposed to help with water retention. Seems to be working!

The rate of loss should continue to slow but my metabolism seems to be higher. Getting out of my chair to exercise has been helping as well.

Noddy, Excellent News on your Size 8s. You've every reason to brag.

JPB--

Thank you.

I have to admit they are "Misses" Size 8's--but I'm smaller than I was.

Very Happy to George.

Noddy, of course they're Misses Size 8s. What else would they be, little girl Size 8s? Congratulations on the new size!

J_P, I'm glad it's working! How's Mr. J_P doing on his extreme fast/feast?

Women's (fill in the blank with any of ten thousand thousand terms) remain a deep dark mystery to me.

Hello, it's me again.
This has not been a good December for me and we are almost halfway through January. There is a preceptable bulge at my waistline that was preceptable before I went on vacation and now could be more accurately described as pronounced. The scale does not lie: 203.5, that's a ten pound increase in a little over two months.

203.5 is actually one pound less than I weighed last year on this day*, but in between I have put in looong hours of training and running, yet....

Hello, it's me again.

From the current US News & World Report

http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/2007/12/31/too-fat-no-more-excuses.html

Quote:
Fat cells, moreover, don't seem to go away; while other cells are programmed to die, "you've bought them for life," says Robert Kushner, professor of medicine and obesity-care specialist at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Thus, the goal of shedding pounds really is about slimming fat cells down, then keeping them from packing in triglycerides again.

The print is hard to read here, so I copied:

Quote:
FAT: These cells, unlike others in your body are not programmed to die. Instead they plump up with triglycerides and multiply when they can't expand any further.

Implacable facts of life. Ugh.
