JPB--

Thanks for your blessing on indulgence. Those 800 calories felt like wild dissipation.

The fast schedule sounds interesting--I'll be watching for developments.

I plan to join you and Mr B on Jan 2. Even days for me will be a liquid fast, smoothies with wheat grass, spinach, berries, banana, and I'm going to try to get some rejuvelac from my torture class teacher (one month cleanse, vegan, raw). Oh, cranwater and lemon water too. I need this badly right now and like the fact of easing into it every other day. Warm wishes for a healthy new year. A

Yay! This is so much more intriguing to me than your torture class. Glad to see you here again. I hope all is well with you and yours.

Clive and I will be at the gym tomorrow as well.
Look for two buff dudes pushing big iron on the leg press.

We'll be the ones on the next machine.

Finally home. Not a good day for exercise, unless zooming up and down the stairs about 40 times while packing, checking re laundry, evading the dogs ... counts.

But home, and the walking ramps back up tomorrow.

New Year's Day is great one at the Beach here. Rain, shine, snow or blizzard - we'll be down at the boardwalk walking, meeting and greeting.

The exercycle is indoors. So is the exercise mat.

Merry Christmas ... click ... to me, thanks to the hamburgers. I used some of my Christmas gift $ to buy a yoga strap.

I'm optimistic, if not entirely sure how to use it.

OK, this holiday schedule is pissing me off. (Gym.)

Open for a window on Saturday. Missed the window.

Open for an even briefer and more inconvenient window on Monday. Missed it.

Closed today.

Open tomorrow, and sozlet's scheduled for something, so should be able to make that happen.

And hopefully more or less normal after that.

I think if I don't make it tomorrow though I'd be due for a whapping.

I have been active in a general way in the meantime -- walks, etc.

Weight this morning, 114--two pounds lost for the holiday season.

I have a sore arm/shoulder and the contrast between the tight, throbbing bicep and the flabby, flappy upper arm is most unaesthetic.

May it also be inspiring.

Still down six pounds from my pre-Christmas peak but unfortunately that's 5 lbs more than I started the year. I've spent the past two years fluctuating around a level that is already 5 lbs higher than I want to be. Now it's 10. I won't call it a Resolution but more of a reflection that things that used to work no longer work and relying on 20 years of maintaining the same weight isn't getting me anywhere.

I have a plan that's very different from anything I've ever done. It includes both a food component and an exercise component. I'll give it a full month and see how it goes. If I lose 5 lbs over the month then I will continue (assuming I find it reasonable and doable) otherwise I'll go back to the creative board and think up something else.

I'd still like to see a '6' in the middle but to begin with I'll settle for a '7'.

Happy New Year to all -- may your efforts succeed!

Noddy, I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder. I hope you recover quickly.

Soz, January 2nd is traditionally the busiest day at the Gym. Getting there is half the battle, finding open equipment to use is just as difficult.

I didn't move vigorously yesterday, but I didn't keep trekking to the refrigerator for a constant supply of fatty calories, either.

Weight this morning, 113. That's a three pound loss since early December. Goal for today: Abstemious eating and purposeful motion.

Please nag.

Since the furnace was out of commission yesterday, I didn't move out from under the duvet other than to make hot chocolate. Surprisingly, I'm still down a bit from our return from the hamburgers.

Monitor. Walk. Study yoga strap.

Yikes about furnace out of commission! Surely you used up more calories than usual just trying to stay warm...

Went to the gym! Ah. Feel much better.

Surprisingly, it was just the regulars. (Since I go at various times I have about 4 sets of "regulars," each of whom probably think I exercise 75% less than I actually do...)
