I asked him if he was going to start now or after New Year's. I didn't get a clear answer. He's still cogitating.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Mr. Noddy and Faithful Dog are driving up and down the driveway to crack the ice loose.

Unfortunately by this time in the afternoon, temperatures are dropping.

I'm going to make my appointment tomorrow and take two paperbacks. Eventually the driveway will thaw and I'll consider coming home.

EhBeth--

I've got a 400 page murder mystery and a 500 page fat fantasy--plus the newspaper and the last two issue of New York.

Worked out!

Oh and by the way the "interested" comment wasn't a complaint that I thought people weren't interested -- just didn't want to assume it was interestING.

Definitely helps to report, so thanks!

How'd that appointment go, Noddy?

Shoulder is much improved--although still stiff. Had I not missed two appointments....

I'll be able to cut back on the opiates. The chiropractor will be closed Monday and Tuesday, but if the weather holds, I'll see her next Wednesday morning.

Soz--

Good for you, making the gym. Are you giving yourself a break for Christmas? Or will the babysitter situation demand a break?

Just finished a HUGE gingerbread cookie. HUGE.
Was I really that hungry? No.
Social pressure? No.
Special occasion? No.

{sigh}

Well, at least I did a little workout at lunch.

Ten minutes on the rower.
Then
Ten minutes on the stationary bike.
Then
Ten minutes on the elliptical.

I can't wait till the roads are a little less dangerous to run on.

Not much in the way of exercise today - except for packing, loading the car, driving 4 hours, stopping a couple of times to run the dogs, unpacking and then eating at the hamburgers.

The food's too good here, so all I can do is try to be mmmmmm somewhat restrained.

Good luck with that, Ms. Deerhuahua. I'll have a few evenings at my sister's, but at least I can control most of what I eat over the holiday.

I think JPB shared her germs with me. Nausea reinforces common sense.

JPB--

I'll take the rest of your family--with one bathroom. You can have Mr. Noddy, complete with insulin, needles and cheerful conversation.

They're stabilized to the point where they're mostly commiserating among themselves. I do wish there was a way to provide you some assistance.

The worst is past. Mr. Noddy doesn't understand my mood--after all, he personifies innocence--but he's giving me plenty of elbow room.

I've kept off the 5 lbs I purged last week even though the house is filled with cookies, peanut brittle, and chocolate.

I had a few holiday events that pulled me off my usual menu, but I didn't go crazy. I'm back to working out daily, which is a relief.

JPB--

You deserve to keep the fruits of The Purge.

Mac--

Once a healthy routine is established....

I was feeling more rueful than guilty Christmas evening at all the high-fat goodies I'd consumed. Then I totalled up the calories: 2400. This is about a third more calories than I usually eat, but 800 calories of indulgence is really pretty small potatoes in the gorging department.

Resolution for 2008: Set a schedule for exercise and follow the schedule.

Speaking of fruits.... we have a plan.

Mr B will begin his alternating fast days on Jan 2. He will eat normally (as in, whatever he usually eats) on odd days and fast on even days. I have historically done quite well with fruit fasts so I will eat normally on odd days and eat all the fruit I want on even days. That way, I won't be filling the house with cooking odors on his fast days. I love fresh fruit and am actually looking forward to this.

All social and family events in January happen to fall on odd days. We'll give it a go for a month and see what happens.

noddy, I'm sure you're more than entitled to the small pleasures those 800 calories gave you. January and a little more daylight await.
