Noddy, I wish you joy, peace, and an accelerated rate of calorie burn for the holidays.

I was down 1.4 at my weigh-in yesterday, for an all-time low of 172.8. (Well, not all-time, but certainly in the last 30+ years.) Something about travelling seems to help me lose weight. I don't know if it's the stress or just being away from my kitchen that makes the difference.

Mac--

172.8--in street clothes.

I think dieting is a bit easier when traveling. You have lots of new sensory input and consequently less need to stuff your face for satisfaction.

Of course, being away from your very own refrigerator helps enormously.

Congratulations, mac! That is bloody marvellous. I will keep you posted on how my WW goes...

I missed a couple of classes while I had the cold that destroyed Toronto.

That meant this week I went for three dance classes. Four and a half hours of dance Shocked

In the giddiness/insanity that followed, I signed up for the December special - unlimited classes for $75 - and registered for 4 classes a week + 2 specialty classes on a weekend.

We'll see what happens.

ehBeth you make me laugh... that's how I operate - kind of all or nothing. I signed up for a month's gym membership at the local rec centre and got access to the weight room, pool (for Aquafit), sauna & steam room for $51. I aim to go damn near every day and get my money's worth, plus, I'm on a mission right now.

I've been looking for dance classes in this godforsaken community but apparently nobody here likes to dance.

I took some years ago with a friend who danced as a "chorus girl" in theatre productions - they were fabulous. Great exercise and the time just flies. You hardly realize you're working out (except for all your aching joints and muscles after). Fun.

Mame--

Could you face working out with the little ones in children's classes?

I had a friend who got into great shape taking a karate class with her ten year old son.

The Sensei was very amused that her presence heightened the competitive instincts of the students, but reduced the hostility.

Hello? everyone working out? dodging the seasonal choccies and nuts?

I'm finding it difficult to stay away from the caramels Evil or Very Mad

Premium caramels. I love 'em.

<sigh>

The dance class marathon starts tonight for me. 1.5 hours tonight, tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, 2 hours on Sunday. We'll see. I'm thinking it might be a bit of a push.

Been doing lots of walks and exercising along with paying attention to intake -- it ain't working. Travel from a week ago coupled with recent and upcoming festivities make even maintaining a joke.

Mr B's company offers up to $150 for WW (or similar program) fees. I may look into it in January.

I'm down a pound since November, despite some monumental gorging. Going out to eat worms wasn't practical so I chewed my way through the refrigerator, freezer and pantry--spiced sausage and holiday baking.

Then after about a week, I didn't want to stuff my face anymore.

I'm trying to think (and act) like an Old Fashioned Heroine. Old Fashioned Heroines eschew caloric rewards. Old Fashioned Heroines buy books and wallow in bubble baths.

Twelve days until the Winter Solstice (1:06 a.m. on 12/22).

Small successes. I pulled out a pair of corduroy slacks (P 12) that I got at an end-of-season sale last spring. I wanted to wear them to boost my morale. I realized that they were too big.

I'm not fool enough to head out for the Post Christmas sales, but come January.....

I've been varying degrees of sick since I caught a cold over Thanksgiving. I've thought I was recovered enough to get back in the gym a few times, but even taking it easy, it's tough to find the energy for working out.

I think I'm officially almost over it, and will be back in the gym again after work today. I'm pretty sure this week's weigh-in will show a gain on Wednesday, but I'll feel better for having attempted a workout.

At the gym only a handful of times over the past month and a half. I have an appointment with an orthepedic surgeon at a sports medicine center in about a week. Pulled or torn something in my bicep. Started going back to the gym last week, just altered my excercises to not bother it. Sucks, I've lost about 7-8 lbs(muscle), I can really see it in my shoulders & arms.

And did abs for the first time in years on Friday. It's Monday night, and they're still sore. I'm going to get that sh!t nice and tight.
