I've started putting on weight and I look about 3 months pregnant.
A whole new set of clothes are required.

After two days of petulant intertia I've done my exercises, ridden 21 minutes to Elsewhere on the exercycle and ambled through springtime picking up sticks and raking leaves.

I may not burn many calories with leisurely yard work, but leisurely yard work takes me away from the refrigerator.

Thanks Slappy doo.

Good on you Noddy.

Gym session was good today, the benefit of the longer sessions on the rower has helped at the shorter 2500 metres distance:-

5 minutes stretching
20 minutes light weights
2500m rower in 9 mins 48 secs
4 mile on treadmill in best to date 33 mins 22 secs
A few light stretches

Tomorrow leaving the weights alone, will test my Vo2 and do 6 miles on the treadmill-must be a masochist or maybe a presbyterian ! Very Happy

Noddy - i just read on realage that gardening is one of the better fitness activities - as good as walking and very similar to weight-training for some of the benefits to be derived.

Okay. So I walked from the 16th street/ 8th Avenue A stop over to 23rd and Lexington before work. Then after work walked north to the 1/9 stop at 34th street. Total distance is about three and a half miles.

more later.

eBeth--

I think you have to pick up more than one stick at a time for weight training. Still, when I start forking mulch and heaving topsoil....

Even picking up sticks speeds up my metabolism.

Noddy - one stick leads to a pile of sticks and then the pile of sticks must be moved and then the piles of moved sticks have to be dealt with and the next thing you know you need the absorbine junior!

eBeth--

I cheat I walk to the edge of the clearing and chuck the sticks back in the woods.

Off topic, but...I want to brag. I've got a nesting pair of piliated woodpeckers! Today they were both on a dead snag. He was drumming--bass-- and she was listening with her heart all a-flutter.

Spring. Love. Romance.

You grab it by its horns and smack it against the floor a few times, until it doesn't move, hiama! that's how i treat my dominion.

i injured a rotator cuff (sp?) on my left shoulder on friday - pulled one too many weights. so my doctor (my own boyfriend) forbid me to lift weights for a week. But since muscular women freak him out and i now sport quite some bicepses, i doubt his sincerity. can't fight back much, i only have one arm to fight back :-(
plus i have a sore throat, dunno what for, in the spring. stoopid. so i'm going for some dim sum with friends and tomorrow i will be restored back to my full health, right? right?

Hiama--

What do you do with your dominion? You exercise it, of course!

eBeth--

My mind is active, my body lethargic and my will power varies according to sunspots and solar flare activity.

Hey Dag, take it easy. I injured my left shoulder in the same area back in October, and I'm still having problems with it, two cortisone shots and three months of physical therapy later.

Take Glucosamine Chrondroitin, 1500mg/day. Use it for two months, if it helps, keep taking it in reduced dosage. If it doesn't help, forget it.

haha, thanks cjhsa. i don't think i have injured it too seriously, probably just strained something in the area. it is certainly better now. i can move my arm and all, it only hurts in 2 specific angles - so i avoid them. i shall take it easy, bf hates my arm muscles anyway. i will keep jogging and all that. hope you get your shoulder fully restored one day!

dags, train don't strain !

cjhsa,

sorry to hear about your shoulder injury, take it easy, I only do light weights, with reps

Noddy,

Took my dominion to te gym yesterday, I think after 7 sessions in 9 days my body was telling me to ease up so just did 6 miles in a slow 57 minutes on the treadmill. Vo2 around 50, aiming to get it over 60 by the end of the year
