six months? oy vey!

maybe aspiration? i can't imagine not using my wrist the way i'm used to for half a year. i bike everywhere, there's boxing... lotsa things.... and then it would come back eventually anyway.
i guess i need to talk to a real ortho doctor about options....waaaaah.

Since I'm not a fan of invasive procedures, I was 'happier' to wear a splint (mostly to remind me what I couldn't/shouldn't be doing), and try to avoid repetitive motion/strain activities.

Quote:
What are Repetitive Motion Disorders?
Repetitive motion disorders (RMDs) are a family of muscular conditions that result from repeated motions performed in the course of normal work or daily activities. RMDs include carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis, tendonitis, epicondylitis, ganglion cyst, tenosynovitis, and trigger finger. RMDs are caused by too many uninterrupted repetitions of an activity or motion, unnatural or awkward motions such as twisting the arm or wrist, overexertion, incorrect posture, or muscle fatigue.

so for me - no Tae Bo for about 4 months, and I had someone at work help with some of my keyboarding. Not an option for everyone, but I didn't want anything stuck into me that I could avoid.

yes, but the dorsal ganglion cyst may also be a result of trauma, as a bike accident - which is what i think happened in my case. which also means the cyst can shrink, or grow, depending on how i use my wrist, but it will keep coming back. i'd have to stop biking (no way) and boxing (i'd rather not) altogether. if aspiration has a good chance for it to not come back after it's healed, i'll go for it. depends on how much it costs, too, of course.

The Monster advised surgery. He claims it's the quickest and the only effective way how to make it go away for good. Aspiration is as good as bible thumping, so ain't gonna do that. Either surgery or nothing. If it's affordable, I'll go under the knife.

Four months of belly-dancing behind me now.

Wow!

I don't think I'm ready to be in the December recital, though the instructor says yes. I don't think I've got the nerve to do it, even among friends and family.

More clothes are sagging and hanging - that is good! This weekend is going to involve a lot of bagging-up for Goodwill.

Sorry to hear that Clary - but at least it isn't up from a month ago!

I'm sure the Goodwill needs those baggy clothes more than you do, bethie.

I was at 196.8 Wednesday.

Our Weight Watchers leader announced that it was her last meeting with us. I was bummed - okay, I cried when I stayed after to tell her goodbye. She is really inspirational and has made a big difference in my life for the last year and a half. If they don't replace her with someone good, I think I'll start going to the evening meeting that she has.

... and I thought you'd be the new group leader ...

~~~~~~
Someone is gonna get some stylin' stuff the next time they go to Goodwill.
Changing group leaders/trainers can be rough - especially when it's someone who's been part of a meaningful change.
In order to become a group leader, I'd have to get to goal weight (36 pounds away), stay there for 6 weeks, and then go thru a training course.
I've thought about it... and will look at what's involved when I'm eligible.
Mac--
I don't blame you for feeling a bit abandoned. Perhaps you could convince some of those 36 pounds to take a hike with the Group Leader?
EhBeth--
Every pound of clothing donated to Good Will means that the powers that be will flush 4 ounces of fat from your system.
I was looking forward to an NYC demonstration of belly dancing. Perhaps in the springtime?
Fate is not being kind. I'd worked up to doing all my exercises, every day, and now my bad leg is twinging and aching. Evidently the older you get, the more complicated are the Rewards of Virtue.
Noddy - can you do seated yoga exercises on the days that your leg just says NO !
It'd still help your core work.
EhBeth--
I've cut back to the exercises that don't cause pain and I'm trying hard to remember to employ isometrics against my abs.
Sometimes even a Good Woman can find Character Building Experiences very tedious.
The Postal Person just delivered my book club shipment--the second volume of an fantasy epic from an Australian author. Sometimes fate awards consolation prizes.
Have you started packing yet?
hehehehehe
7 bags of clothes are stuffed in the hatch of the car, ready to be dropped off at Goodwill tomorrow morning after our picnic
Someone is going to get some treasures, someone else is going to find some great costume pieces - if they're planning to trick-or-treat as Boy George. I think I finally cleaned out the last of the jackets with padded shoulders and peplums.
Noddy, my packing list is ready - but I found something in the closet/room clean that may work to replace two items on that list - gotta save room for more shoes to come home with Cool
~~~~~~

edit - I just noticed how much I look like hamburger in this avatar pic. Kinda weird-neat.

Right, this is getting serious, Dagmaraka and Thomas who pledged to lose 15 lbs by Christmas with me! I've enrolled on the WLR website and am trying to keep to a measly 1100 calories a day - this is the end of the first week, but it's not as bad as I'd thought. However, the first weigh-in is today and I'm sitting here NOT going to the Health Club to do it (threw out my own scales years ago)! I must be elegant by the time I'm 60! 8 weeks away...
