Wow, even more losers!!!
Sorry about your means to success, Dag. I hope you feel better soon.
Diane, your loss has started and will become a spiral soon.
Ay, Thanks so much for the support. Your numbers shall drop soon too.
WTG, Noddy! 4 lbs is great.
Littlek, Good habits and paying attention will show up on the scale. Your food diary sounds delicious. My mouth was watering, literally, at the description of your lunch the other day.
JP, flex cals are a great idea.
---
I made homemade mac and cheese last night for the girls and <ahem> I weigh 171 today. I'm counting it as one of jp's upside flex cal days and will recover today. Thursday's weigh-in of 170 is still the official weight of the week though (one of the reasons I picked a Thursday to start).
TIP OF THE DAY: Write it down. If you aren't exactly sure of what you're eating over the course of the day, keeping a food diary can help light the lightbulbs. Sometimes the simple thought of having to write it down will keep you out of the cookie jar. Even if you eat the cookies, writing it down will help you get the big picture and track your intake over the day.

Its so exciting to hear about everyone's losses!! For those of you still trying, just remember the body does take time to adjust, so hang in there and it will happen. I am a little under the weather today-however not nearly as bad as Dag (so sorry-feel better!) I am running a little fever and have already spoken to my doc about fixing me right up. So no run this morning which is funny because my dog didn't even get up. Probably because he spent yesterday at my parents. My mom doesn't work outside of the home so he gets to run around the backyard like a mad man all day (he is a hunting dog so he likes to chase the birds and the squirrels-not that he ever catches them, but he loves it). I think he was a little pooped and probably relieved I didn't get up.
Dinner last night was chicken, squash, and zuccini again (leftovers) stirfried. Today I have had my morning low fat cottage cheese.
I run 2 miles usually every morning and then 3 times per week I go do weights at the gym focusing on my legs, arms, and core muscle strength. I also eat low carbs (although I eat a lot of veggies which are high in the "good" carbs) and low fat. That is my current dieting plan. Although like I said before, my weight usually swings anywhere from 2-4 lbs during the course of a day, so when I say 8 lbs it could be and actual 8 or 6-4lbs.
We can do you it all!!! I am the worst at will power, but it seems easier now that I get hear what everyone is doing, etc. Keep it up and we will be lighter by June 30th!!!

I haven't done my exercises today, but I managed a half hour of light gardening--very light. The soil in my wild garden is heavily mulched and the mulch is damp so the weeds could be plucked rather than pulled.
Objective observation made by hefting my inspirational bags filled with 10 pounds of canned goods:
The six pound bag weighs a lot more than the four pound bag.
George--
I hope you enjoyed every mouthful of chocolate. Festivals should be enjoyed.
dragon--
In my haphazard reading about physical fitness, I've learned that a single day off exercise can be a good idea.
J_B--
I'm sure you make a wicked macaroni and cheese. Today is the start of the rest of your diet.

well, two hours of boxing and the food poisoning combined translated into 2 pound loss. probably just water weight. but it's something. i won't allow them to creep back. only like 18 pounds to go. na, i'd be happy with 13 or so.
boxing was great fun (excepting the chills and bouts of nausea) - i love love love it! it's so energetic, so instinctive and animalistic, yet very technical and strategic. perfect relaxation. you have to forget the rest of the world, all you see is the oponent. it so suits me, i'm wondering where the hell was i until now. i could have been a champion by now!
it's a small class, only 5 of us. i still did the best with the weights, better then the boyz in the class. was so damn proud. all these gym visits and lifting weights everyday paid off. even if they didn't translate into weight loss per se.

OMG did i eat it up memorial day weekend!!! for the last 2 weeks i was so good on my diet, running at least 4-5 times a week and then comes this horrible 3 day weekend where i ate like a madman!! i weighed this morning and at least on 1 lb gain, 173. however, i take i am under the gun as i take the first of three of the chartered financial analyst exam this saturday. the stress already had me eat a donut today while i took a practice exam-which i feel better about because i passed all the sections i have finished reviewing, but failed all teh ones i haven't finished. i still have 5 days. plus i feel like a heel because others out there have much more trying things than this exam (phoenix) and they are dealing a hell of a lot better than me.
i need to grow some freaking will power. had pasta salad loaded with mayo, mac and cheese, donut, strawberry and blueberry torte, and who knows what else. but tomorrow, i will prevail! will run my two miles in the am and eat normally again. hopefully, by thurs that one pound will come off!!!!

dragon--
Friday night I had two drinks--and Saturday morning I'd gained three pounds. Two of the invaders are gone, but the experience was discouraging.
As for stress--there is end-of-life stress and beginning-of-life stress. Phoenix and I are both seasoned for our versions of Life's Little Dramatic Moments.
By Thursday, all will be well and you'll be taking your exam missing a least one--and possibly two--pounds.
Hold your dominion.

dragon, dieting does that to you, the need to go on a binge and eat everything in sight is sometimes too much to bear.
i had the most successful weekend, i should patent this weight loss plan. all it takes is meeting someone new, spending the weekend in bed with the said new person, not thinking about food (who would). cannot disclose more, as my new personal trainer will be sailing the waters of a2k ;-) never forgetting to recruit new souls. lucifer would be pleased.

Hey dagmaraka,
I'm brand new to this forum (this is my first post). I live in the Boston area and I've worked as a personal trainer. Do you need a workout partner? I'm looking to get back in shape.

Regular volunteer work this week so back to the excercising...I am thinking I will run 10km tomorrow morning; my husband can ride along beside me on his way to work.
It seems I have forgotten how to sleep through the night I wake up and can't go back to sleep but at least I am staying out of the pantry
Good work everyone
Dag, you are lucky to have a new workout partner

well, well, well......
oh
J_B - why eat it if it isn't yummy? It doesn't have to be high fat. I've been eating more vegies this weekend, and less carbs. I did have that dessert at the friday night a2k meet. And some corn chips (but they're baked!).
Excersize for weeks has consisted of hauling dirt, mulch, stones, weeding and planting. It's mostly strength excersize, but hauling damp dirt is cardiovascular if you do it right. I have more dirt to haul, too. And, I told my mother I'd do some gardening for/with her on the cape this week.
