I hope everyone had a nice weekend doing whatever brings you joy.
I spent the weekend digging in the dirt which means I was a happy little camper. I need to pay greater attention to what I'm eating so I'm going to restart my food diary. Late night binging has been a big issue for me lately and I need to keep better focus with that. I've been doing a good job of maintaining, but that isn't exactly my goal so I need to kick myself into gear and drop those stubborn 8 - 10 lbs I've been carrying since January.
Noddy, I'm glad your ordeal is behind you. My fingers are crossed for some positive news.
Hope you had fun in your garden J_B

I know what you mean about stubborn 8 - 10 lbs

Ah well, I am doing all the right things so if it is going to happen, it is going to happen, I am not going to stress about it. I am fit and healthy and that is what it is all about isn't it?
Noddy-My friend said she checked for the fat content on food labels,I went shopping last night and did the same thing, so in that way Im imitating her.
Sadly my huge butt in my once baggy trousers are not matching up with the good intentions in my head.
MG,
I taught my kids how to read food labels. They regularly inform me how much fat, sugar and carbs are in a product
I wish all parents and future generations were so wise.
My sons (yes, boys!) actually eat and recommend better things than I have - recently I was offered green or peppermint tea at my youngest's flat and he was slightly scornful of my buying a cookin curry sauce instead of making it from scratch!
Cook in curry?
Upon moving to Brisbane my husband started frequenting Indian take aways in his quest for curry... I decided to learn how to make it myself and there has been no looking back since

He says he doesn't even miss the meat in the curry
Venturing out to California in July to meet some old college friends. Incentive!
Yesterday went well. I can do it if I pay attention. It's the long term attention that seems to be my trap. I've decided to do a six week challenge with some friends and see if I can drop 10 lbs by the end of June. Anyone want to join in?
material girl--
Tomorrow morning look in the mirror and promise yourself, "Today is the first day of the rest of my diet."
J-B--
Count me in. Weight this morning, 131.
Noddy picks up the gauntlet.
OK, I'm in too.
Weight 177 this am.
Alright J_B...I'll take the challenge!
Weight this morn: 142
me too., me too!
i will post my incremental losses.
Just back from the gym:
10km on SB/2.5 km on TM/ 1 km on RM followed by stretches and a quick dip in the pool .
J_B:
What are the rules for this challenge?
Should we have scheduled days on which to post weight (or <ahem> "incremental losses")?
What is the final day?
Yesterday was another good day and I've lost 7 easy lbs of water and bloat. My weight fluctuates wildly depending on what I eat or drink. I can easily go up 3 lbs a day so the quick-on weight tends to be quick-off as well. I'm at 172.5 today so another 8-10 lbs will be just about perfect! These are the tough lbs for me to lose so I'm glad to see others join in.
June 30th is 6 weeks from tomorrow, May 19th. We'll check in tomorrow with our starting weight and then check in with an 'official' weigh-in each Thursday. Thursday is good as it tends to be the lowest weight of the week (for me at least) prior to heading in to the weekend. If you've already started and want to use yesterday's or today's weight as your baseline then maybe you can shoot for 11 total lbs by June 30th, or use the extra two days to lose 10 lbs from an already established baseline. Tomorrow will be the official start of the challenge so post your baseline and your target weights tomorrow.
Pick your favorite plan. It might be as simple as portion control or as structured as South Beach, Weight Watchers or any other plan. Many plans include a 'quick start' week or Phase I to begin with. Follow whatever choice you've made over the first week or two, but keep it healthy and make sure you're getting at least 1200 cals/day after the first week so your metabolism doesn't slow down. Include your exercise plans too. From there we can:
Check in daily by listing what went well and what didn't.
You can post daily weigh-ins if you're inclined to do so, but only Thursday's will be official. Most plans advise against daily weigh-ins but I'm addicted to my scale so I'll be posting a daily weight.
You can post your food diary or just say, "I did well with eating yesterday" or, "I feel into a bag of Chex Mix and ate the whole thing" which is exactly what I did last Friday.
Also, make sure to read everyone elses posts. A big part of this will be for all of us to succeed and that works better if we're cheering each other on as well as pushing ourselves to our goals.
This is going to be GREAT!!!!
Thanks, J_B. So we offically start tomorrow.
I will be following the Klingon Program.
"It is a good day to diet".
