Buying a bicycle this week (hopefully) and will start using it (hopefully). Also, now that the weather is turning, I am itching to take long strolls with lil Cole.

Um, I doot it. I don't think I'll be doing much off-roading, but riding the streets around here are sort of like off-roading.

Oh Ay yi yi--stopped baking after many years, especially cookies. For Christmas I'll sometimes bake small cakes. If I take a bite out of a cake, everybody knows I've been a greedy little pig. If I eat a dozen out of 14 dozen cookies, noone knows but my hips. No more being the cookie monster!

Wink
I don't bake whole batches of cookies anymore....I pre portion the cookie dough and stick it in the freezer...bake em by the half dozens Wink
Made Date squares today...when I came back up from the gym half the batch was missing!! The boyz said they thought they heard mice in the kitchen Wink
I portioned what was left and it is now buried in the freezer Wink
And yea, bickies just are sooooooooooo yum Smile
I brought two dozen over to my brother in law's place and he, his wife and my husband polished em all off with a cuppa!
It was Easter weekend and I had made cinnamon buns (with whole wheat flour so you know they were somewhat healthy Wink ) so I didn't touch the cookies!!!

I've had bouts of anemia on and off for the last six years. My red cell count is low because of internal bleeding. This can be due to:

1. An arterial-veneous malformation (or several of them). Essentially this means that instead of the blood flowing in a glorious closed loop, there's a break in the piping resulting in internal bleeding. This is very dangerous if it happens in the brain, but a ho-hum, "Isn't medicine interesting" if it happens elsewhere.

2. A bleeding ulcer somewhere in the small intestine.

3. A bleeding tumor somehwhere in the small intestine.

I've had all sorts of tests--which have shown nothing except that my major blood vessels are practically cholesterol free. Next month I'm arranging to swallow a camera which will take pictures of the entire small intestine from the inside.

The favored diagnosis is arterial-veneous malformation. The camera scoping will just be to rule out more serious possibilities.

Meanwhile, iron tonic, red meat, red wine, liver (which I adore), spinach and all the other iron rich vegetables. Eventually my energy will return. Meanwhile, multi-tasking (like doing anything physical while I'm breathing and digesting food) is impractical.

In some ways it is soothing to have an excuse for monumental laziness.

Wow Noddy, sounds nasty. Hope you have loving people around to lend a hand.
My boyz, now 17.5 and 21, have been heaven sent angels ever since my fall three years ago.
I am heaps better since moving to Australia and they actually let me go out of the house by myself these days!
I don't know what I would have done without them!
I hope the internal camera thing will give you some answers; if it is arterial-veneous malformation what is the treatment?

Ay--

Thanks for the kind thoughts.

There is no way to tread artero-veneus malformation, but the anemia can be treated--and I'll be free of the nagging worry about a bleeding tumor. I've had two bouts with cancer and reckon the third bout is likely to be fatal. I'm not ready for fatal yet.

Oh Noddy, the importance of "hold your dominion" becomes even more apparent with your history.

Hope the test shows something easily treatable or, if not, that you can side-step it as you have been doing with iron rich food.

Here's a 'red wine' toast to Noddy and her dominion. Cheers and good health, dear Noddy.

The cup that cheers but doth not inebriate--although that might have been tea.

In any case, the sincere wishes are gladly received.

Raises her coffee cup to Noddy!

Nasty cancer! I had cancer back in '87; very operable but you still worry when you don't feel 100%.
Rest well Noddy and read a good book, an entertaing book and a naughty book Wink

I'm hoping to manage a bit of spring cleaning in the garden this weekend. My squills and crocus are being seriously inconvenienced by last years oak leaves.

Weight bearing exercise burns twice as many calories in the out of doors, doesn't it?

At least!

I had a nice long jog at lunch. It's sooo good to be out in shorts and a tee. I love this time of year.

Went to the doctor today. Cholesterol & glucose are perfect, so are blood pressure and all the rest. However, I gained 6 lbs. over the winter. I'm thinking that's not so bad. I'll just start cutting back again now that the weather's getting warm. Salads and grilled meats are SO much more appetizing in warm weather!
