I start again today, the first full day of spring. This morning I did 30 mins on the treadmill with speed intervals and chest/back exercises. The weekend will be a challange due to younger daughter's b'day on Friday and Easter Sunday, but I'll give it my best 'tween now and Thursday.

Myboss an dI have taken to measuring our guts and keeping a record of them.

I also only seem to be going to the gym once a week now which is naughty.

Ive also discovered Barbecue chicken crisps which is also naughty.

I have started riding the stationary bike in the gym and it is not so hard on my back which obviously means I need to have the seat adjusted on my bike ( son's bike acutally)
After my lil 5 km run I have been doing a lot of walking and will start running again this week. I was down with a flu-like virus for a few days so it has taken me a few days to get back on track.
Went to O'Reilly's national park on Sunday and did a glorious 10km bushwalk! Oh, it felt so good to be in the bush and to hear the trail beneath my feet...
It was supposed to be a cure for itchy feet; I reckon it only made it worse Wink
MG. we have discovered Arnott's Tasty Jack crisps! How can something that tastes that yummy be bad for you Wink

For two days running I've had a virtuous little snack buffet of raw fruits and vegetables. I've also increased my cycling time to 45 minutes. I don't know what this is doing for my hips, but the stack of unread magazines is dwindling.

Argh! What a wasted weekend for exercise!
Painting the bedroom and a walk to the library were about it.
It felt good to get out for a jog at lunch today.
Spring is finally here!

YAY! It's Spring! Just having nicer weather makes a huge difference in my mood, which makes dieting easier.

Clary, noone responded to your question aobut the diet pills. Have you tried them? How are they working? I keep hoping that a pill will be invented that really works without any awful side effects. If it works, I'll buy it in a flash. Maybe you could start a little mail order store for those of us in the States. God knows, far too many of us need to lose weight.

No weight loss, but I have been able to cut down on the sweets. Strange that I always feel better when I go off sweets but that I often can't help myself when I get that urge to lap up anything that tastes sweet. Definitely strange, even perverse. Hmm.

Hey Diane,
Missed that Q on diet pills altogether. I don't suppose diet pills work all that well. I reckon weight loss is all about life changes. I did a stint on Jenny Craig years ago and managed to keep the weight off for years; sadly I have gained heaps since my accident.
And now that I am past 40 I am finding it more difficult to drop the weight Sad
Speaking of sweets....Easter this weekend. Requests have been submitted for scones, hot cross buns and cinnamon rolls. How can I resist all of that???
I better get myself into the kitchen!!
Wink Oh I know, all the time spent in the kitchen making those yummies will work off the calories in advance?

One of the advantages of pre-cut vegetable snacks is that when you decide you are going to starve to death you have a choice of raw vegetables or nothing.

A little starvation is good for the figure and raw vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals.

6 k (a bit less than 4 miles).

When do you reckon you'll start running again?
A 10 K hike through the bush is serious exercise.
How did you feel afterwards?

The 10km bushwalk was absolutely glorious! The back hurt like hell on the way out of the bush as it was uphill all the way so I thought I would be pretty sore on Monday. To my great pleasure I was quite functional on Monday and even got on the stationery bike. And did 4km on the treadmill...walking though.
I did another 4 km on the treadmill yesterday and ran half of it. Another 10km on the stationery bike and one on the rowing machine.
I will try running a lil longer today and see how it goes. I am in no hurry =) If it is...bothersome....I will just cut back to walking for a bit =)

6 kms is a nice run George! Hard work!

Hello All!

I can see dominions have been held all round and progress to fitness/svelte-like physiques is being made with the onset of Spring.

Post skiing I had a couple of weeks of limited exercise (suffering from cold/long work hours etc.) but that allowed my twisted ankle to recover.

Sunday I cycled all over town and then ran the final leg (a couple of miles) to which the ankle stood up just fine. Swimming last night.

The woman I was with on Sunday ("L") is into her running, too, so we'll meet on Friday for a run in the park. I hope to be seeing more of her, sweating and panting, in due course! Wink

I've slowed down on weight loss but will apply myself to that - good habits are in place.

Good luck and happy Springtime to you all.

KP

Well good dominion holding all round.

Nice to see Gautam and KP welcoming spring, maybe I'll get out on the bike soon. I have been swimming mainly since my successful Op late last year- " I love the smell of chlorine in the morning"- averaging 10,000m a week so getting better at it.

Maybe this year I may actually DO a triathlon Very Happy

Negative achievements:

Yesterday when the snow started falling, falling, falling I was furious.

My carbohydrate binge was only minor--600 or so calories instead of everything delicious that I could reach.

Bah humbug, KP!

Autumn has snuck in while we weren't looking - another summer gone! Absolutely magnificent weather - but there's that little nip in the air now! Confused Sad

This is one Australian dweller who is welcoming the 'little nip in the air' with great relish!
Wink
BTW, we still find it rather warm up here in Brisbane; I mean I still can't put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Sox and shoes? Forget about it! Unless I am going to the gym Wink
Looking forward to cooler weather to make these workouts more enjoyable.
