Of course she is being smeared. She is now opening herself up to criticism since she went public with her grievence.

She has every right to criticize. Just as those who feel compelled to criticize her and her actions have the same right.

Why is this a difficult concept for the left to comprehend?

If she is being smeared by the GOVT,then it should be east to find at least one example.

I havent seen any examples of where ANYONE from the govt has attacked her, smeared her,or really even paid any attention to her at all, other then to acknowledge that she exists.

Is that now considered a smear?

She's being criticized, her motives are being examined, and she finds herself under a microscope, all because of her own doing ... does that amount to "smearing"?

Usually when the liberals talk about "smear" they say Rove's name in the same breath.

Absolutely. Remember, from a liberals perspective, if you criticize them or their point of view directly, they take it personally and call it "smearing".

You are 100% correct. This criticism directed at her is a direct result of her public actions. I do not cirticize her right to petition the gov't or the President. However, her public display and her daily media news conferences open her to public criticism. If she can not del with it...too bad. if the liberals have a problem with the criticism...too bad.

Wow! The only thing lower than the actually smearing her is to even deny she is being smeared. Her
******* son was slaughtered for no good reason, only those with nary an ounce of decency would question her "motives."

But there are a lot of folks who are revealing just how far in the gutter they are willing to descend. And all the smearers do is elevate Cindy's status more and encourage more support with each passing day.

Again THANKS!!!

Her "****" son? Her son died heroically in the service of his country. She is a grieving mother, who is protesting the war, and promoting an anti-war message.

I'm not questioning her motives. It's clear what her motives are.

I hope no one here is moronic enough to assume the government is spearheading the smear campaign. As much disdain I have for the administration, I doubt they have much hand in it.
There are plenty of fringe right-wing neocon lapdogs eager to please their master, even if the master's handlers never throw them a congratulatory rawhide to chaw on.

...and it's just plain silly to think that it's being orchestrated at anything but a grassroots level--or at least originally of that origin.
This is not to say that the Bush administration is stumbling hand over foot to stop the smearing, but they sure as hell can't be the one's in charge of it all.
Just like the dems can't be all that displeased with the Crawford protest...they sure as hell weren't the ones heading that little debacle up, and they sure aren't about to take steps to shut it down.

I find this a bit interesting (yes...bias is expected).

"Since her son Casey died heroically in Iraq while serving his country and the cause of freedom, Cindy Sheehan initially received great sympathy, and even a meeting last year with President Bush.

After which she described President Bush as a man of faith."

http://www.theconservativevoice.com/articles/article.html?id=7549

So she already met with GW???

I find the family statement interesting (if accurate):

"The Sheehan family issued a moving statement disassociating themselves from Cindy Sheehan: "The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect." "

The more I find out about this women, the more I doubt her sincerity.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-08-16-sheehan-unnerved_x.htm

Oh Boy...This gets juicy....

"Sheehan is being championed and financially underwritten by liberal groups. A conference call with reporters Tuesday was sponsored by MoveOn Political Action, TrueMajority and Democracy for America. She's being helped here by a PR assistant who works for Fenton Communications, which is being paid to help Sheehan by TrueMajority, a group founded by Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

Other groups that share Sheehan's view are promoting her cause. Some are seeking donations on their Web sites based on her protest. On Tuesday, Elizabeth Edwards, wife of 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards, e-mailed supporters and asked them to sign an online petition backing Sheehan."

She is being BANKROLLED by liberal groups???

How much does it cost to sit down all day? $20-$50 a day??

Something smells about this/.

"Her impending divorce from Patrick Sheehan has gotten media attention. So has the fact that after she and a group of families met with Bush at Fort Lewis, Wash., last year, she told the Vacaville, Calif., Reporter that Bush was sincere and "feels pain for our loss." She has since told CNN that he acted like the meeting "was a party."

Baldino, it is one thing for our government to investigate and prosecute traitors in a time of war, but the political use of fear that is called McCarthyISM is another matter altogether. It was a form of intrasocietal political terrorism.

By the way, I understand that divorce is more frequent in the "red states" than in the "blues." How does this fit with your concern about Sheehan's divorce?

Dude, you're outta the loop.
That's old news. Moveon and Soros stepped in a while ago.
But like I said elsewhere, this is no more "newsworthy" than how the religious right pumped money and influence into the Schaivo case.
Are you surprised that dem friendly groups would pounce on this...especially after the neocons politicized the Schaivo case 'till they were blue in the face. (pardon the pun)

I think it might raise some additional concerns, because Ms. Sheehan comes from a Blue State and therefore if she gets a divorce that will tilt things the other way.

Yes ... I've decided ... I'm concerned.
