Riding the bike this morning I noticed that Ralph is out and about once again. I know it's not his actual name, but that's what I call him. Ralph is a dog that lives directly across the street. He has never been trained by his family, just roams at will, making up his own rules. For a time he was undisputed king of the vicinity around home. He harrassed pedestrians and chased away encroaching dogs. One man I sometimes talk with said Ralph has bitten him. I saw him make a person stop their bike to fend him off. I always have contended he is a good boy but lacks guidance. When I open up the gate he is often there for a head rub. When I walk to the store or maibox he has accompanied me.

About a month ago he was injured. Likely was struck by a car because he often made cars slow down. After a few days of recuperation, he resumed his roaming, without the aggressions. One hind leg dangled uselessly. Then I saw animal control's truck stopped at his residence. I thought for sure they would take Ralph away but they didn't. I didn't see him for another week. This morning he was running around and using the injured leg a bit. I think it may slowly resume full function if he can avoid getting struck again. Anyway, Ralph's a good boy and I enjoyed watching him today.

Rocky at the fence. Ralph across the street. Ralph's aggressive bark accompanies him charging straight at Rocky until stopped by the fence. Then retreating to his side of the street before charging again, each time acting as though he would tear Rocky to pieces. Does this several times. Rocky's reaction: Sit quietly and watch Ralph make a fool of himself.

@BillW,
Other than BoJo which is a contraction of his name nothing has really stuck. It's not like Tricky Dicky for Nixon.

Bozo the clown isn't really known over here to be honest.

Grocery shopping on an off day this week. I was disappointed last time that HEB did not have the Luby's fish we like to eat.

@edgarblythe,
So you like little fishy on the little dishy when the boat comes in.

At least you're talking about fish Ed, the last time I tuned into this thread I was having my lunch, a nice salad, and the topic of the day was toenails and feet.
It nearly, I stress nearly put me off my lunch.

Merry Christmas to you and yours Ed.

Go easy on the eggnog we don't want you rolling and tumbling.... again.

@eurocelticyankee,
I have never been put off eating. No matter if something gross goes on, somebody died, I'm sick and nearly dying - I gotta have my food.

Merry Christmas - I haven't had eggnog in years. So long ago I forgot about it.

@eurocelticyankee,
Here's thy mother humming,
Like a canny woman;
Yonder comes thy father,
Drunk - he cannot stand.

I was unaware of those lyrics until I heard Alan Price singing them on Geordie Roots and Branches.

He's World famous in N'cassle ya kna.

@izzythepush,
Cod .... are you sure?

A survey a few years back found that over 50% of chippers in Ireland were labelling cheaper pollock, hake, smelt and haddock as pricey cod,
while three-quarters of smoked fish tested was found to be a different species than claimed.

Smile Merry Christmas Izzy.

Me neither, but it does sound like something a dog would like.
