@Greatest I am,

Muslims killed the messenger? Are you referring to Jews or you just got this post confused with some other post?
I did not deflect and in fact I read your posts and replied to what you blamed Islam and Muslims for. Nothing in my reply is out of context to our discussion so far.
Quote:If so, I asked you a question as to why you punish gays instead of those you think reared or contributed to make them gay.
I gave my opinion on homosexuality in general in my previous posts and I am quoting the same response here for continuity and flow of our discussion.
Quote:
Homosexuality
The first point to make clear is that as Muslims, we accept Allah (The Exalted) and His Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the authority and final word on what is right and wrong. This is in important point to be grasped. Otherwise, there is little use in discussing the issue. This is exactly where the people who try to justify homosexuality, and other practices and beliefs, from the Quran go wrong. The point of this post is to make clear the position of Islam on homosexuality so that there will be no doubts about it.
Homosexuality is a moral disorder. It is a moral disease, a sin and corruption... No person is born homosexual, just like no one is born a thief, a liar or murderer. People acquire these evil habits due to a lack of proper guidance and education.
There are many reasons why it is forbidden in Islam. The laws of other religions were similar until not so long ago. Homosexuality is dangerous for the health of the individuals and for the society. It is a main cause of one of the most harmful and fatal diseases. It is disgraceful for both men and women. It degrades a person. Islam teaches that men should be men and women should be women. Homosexuality deprives a man of his manhood and a woman of her womanhood. It is the most un-natural way of life. Homosexuality leads to the destruction of family life.
One of the criteria or litmus test of a behavior that is beneficial to humanity at large is, "what if the action that you are promoting is exercised by a majority of the people of the world? Will it advance humanity or will it retard it?" In this case human beings will cease to exist. If there is any truth to the claim that the male homosexual behavior could be genetic, how about the bisexuals and the lesbians. They for sure are making a choice and by our standards a wrong one too.
Your defense of homosexuality is without merit because it has destroyed every civilization it has touched and that is shameful. Like gambling, porn, alcohol and drug abuse, and sex addition, homosexuality destroys the family like nothing else, and eventually the soul that God turns over to a reprobate mind. No wonder you look so lost. The fact that you failed to see the evil homosexuality can bring to a society proves that we need Divine guidance to differentiate between good and bad.
Now your question is a very good one. Part of my view above explains why homosexuality is bad for a society and we should condemn it so that it does not become a society norm. If something is discouraged in society, the chances are that less people will turn into homosexuals and vise versa. It is just like having laws in place for other ethical crimes such as rape to reduce such crimes.
Now Islam does not say that punish the homosexuals and not the cause. So let's look at some of the leading causes for people to turn into gays:
1. Homosexual experience in childhood, especially if it is a first sexual experience or with an adult particularly with a relative or authority figure.
2. Family abnormality, including the following:
a dominant, possessive, or rejecting mother, an absent, distant, or rejecting father, a parent with homosexual proclivities, particularly one who molests a child of the same sex, a sibling with homosexual tendencies, particularly one who molests a brother or sister, the lack of a religious home environment, divorce (which often leads to sexual problems for both the children and the adults), parents who model unconventional sex roles
condoning homosexuality as a legitimate lifestyle– welcoming homosexuals (e.g., co-workers, friends) into the family circle
3. Unusual sexual experience, particularly in early childhood: precocious or excessive masturbation, exposure to pornography in childhood, depersonalized sex (e.g., group sex, sex with animals) or girls, sexual interaction with adult males
4. Cultural influences: a visible and socially approved homosexual sub-culture that invites curiosity and encourages exploration, pro-homosexual sex education, openly homosexual authority figures, societal and legal toleration of homosexual acts, depictions of homosexuality as normal and/or desirable behavior. This point also explain why today we have more gays then 50 years ago....
First three points are all punishable crimes in any society and so are in Islam. Point 4 above is why Islam condemns Homosexuality as I explained before.
