The problem with liberal outrage; angry women scream at Orin Hatch.

This video, taken today in the capitol, shows the problem that are hurting the progressive movement and the Democratic party's chances. If you think these women are noble... try to step out of your bubble and think about what someone without your biases would think about their behavior.

Obviously, anyone who has donned a pink hat to chant slogans is going to support these women. But what are are saying to normal middle Americans? The liberal outrage completely misses the point that this is a democracy, if you alienate the people in the middle, you lose.

When liberals can be painted as "unhinged" compared to Trump supporters... it is not a good thing for their side. This is handing ammunition to the other side.

Liberals need to cut their losses regroup and start figuring out how to reach out to voters. These temper tantrums don't help.

@maxdancona,
They've gone crazy for political dominance. The Left has taken hold of the liberals, so it is harder to tell the difference. I always thought liberals were making susceptible to Leftist ideology. But what I really think is driving the Left is they are given over to a self-destructive thought process. I know how this is going to sound to some people, but I think their former leader pissed God off something fierce, and so they are being affected into what's sometimes called perdition. Suddenly borders of only this country are challenged, letting illegal aliens go out the back door of the jail is excusable, 'innocent until proven guilty' is not worth defending, embracing socialism is worthwhile to them.

I think they are only getting started, until the next election, I don't know how desperate they will get after that, but I think I'm seeing a time when the Democrat Party becomes extinct. I hope that happens before they begin to kill people who disagree with them . . . some more.

@KingReef,
I don't think the conservative right is any better (in fact in many ways they are worse, more narrow minded and nastier).

The problem is that the battlefield nastiness favors Trump right now. If the angry White women with pink hats get into a screaming match with Trump... trump wins. He has the pulpit, he has the bluster. It is a basic rule of politics or warfare... you don't fight battles on territory that favors your adversary.

The left can make a good case for liberal immigration policies. In fact, they scored points with the kids in cages spectacle. The left wins when the right is seen as heartless and cruel.

The right wins when the left is seen as outraged, extreme and irrational. That is why these women, when they are portrayed as "screaming elevator women" scores points for the conservatives.

I am on the side of the left when it comes to most of the issues... which is why it frustrates me that they are such idiots when it comes to political strategy.

Does anybody think all the Republican Senators disbelieved Dr. Ford's story? Some of them probably did disbelieve, but I suspect some of them believed Kavanaugh tried to rape her, and they just don't care. Their own careers are more important to them, and they're afraid to go against the party.

@coluber2001,
Do you think that all the Democrats believed Ford's story?

Both sides are playing politics. Collins was completely correct that Feinstein played a cynical political game with Ford's accusation.

@maxdancona,
The lies are so fast and free in the Trump era that we have become unable to tell an honest person from a liar. Thr hoest person is limited to telling the truth, but the liar can make up any story he chooses. Kavanaugh is a better liar than Trump, but then Trump doesn't even try. He doesn't have to. He's got True Believers that will follow him no matter what he says. Trump is a ************ and so is Kavanaugh. They're both Goddamn liars and that they have so many vehement followers bodes poorly for the future of our country. America is not immune to fascism.

@maxdancona,
See, when you talk that way, you are making yourself look like everyone who is in disagreement with you is stereotypical, white, angry, and that you don't have any sense of right and wrong.

@coluber2001,
This the thing though!

The Democrats constructed this thing. I think what Ford did was become the willing false front. So I believe once the truth about this came out, there were no Democrats or Republicans who believed the story. And Feinstein looks like the mastermind, so far.

You really don't think the politicians on the left are lying too? How quaint.

If you can't tell a liar someone who's telling the truth, then I feel sorry for you, and I feel sorry for the country.

@maxdancona,
I know, huh!

What a development! When did they start doing that?

Actually, I'm one of those people who thinks that allowing politicians to construct reality to us, and having us become polarized out of the ability to have conversation, only proves that they are really smarter than us. I don't want that for myself, but there are so many people who are just falling into it, like they are right to do it.

Thank you, but that isn't true. I'm not fascist. But I'm starting to think you are. Antifa, by chance?

A number of Republican Senators said Dr. Ford's story was compelling, but they voted against her anyway. In other words her story was compelling, but it was a lie. What it amounted to was that they just didn't give a **** that Kavanaugh attempted to rape Ford

I don't think they meant it. They have to say they thought Ford's testimony was compelling. I thought so too when I first heard it, but I had the nagging suspicion that she sounded like a little kid trying to convince Mom she was too sick to go to school, but wasn't.

@coluber2001,
That is partisan nonsense. Not a single Republican Senator voted against Dr. Ford.

This is not an either/or proposition. You are setting up a false dichotomy. You can find a story is compelling and still make a decision a tangentially related political decision.

Oh geez, at least be honest enough to say you never believed someone could stay silent about their experience until it becomes clear that they cannot.

Does it mean anything to you that it was a woman who put the nail into the coffin (in a pretty pointed way)? Susan Collins did not pull punches when she stated that she felt that the Democrats were using Dr. Ford as part of a political stunt.

Both can be true... you can believe that Dr. Ford has a compelling story, and also believe that the Democrats are using Dr. Ford in a cynical partisan stunt.
