I don't highlight passages from Bush spokesmen, as they are liars just as the Bushes are liars. There's no reason to believe a word they say.

You start from that position, and you expect to be taken seriously in your analysis on any given subject?

Well, I have arrived at that position after years of research. But, to answer your question, Yes, I do.

I could care less if you don't have the ability to face the facts of corruption in our gov't, Tico. You really need to wake up. Those in control lie as easily and as often as they breathe. How many lies will they have to be caught in before you will believe it?

I truly am not that concerned about him.' -3/13/02

A year earlier than that:

'"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him.'
- 9/13/01

The first line is a lie, my friend. And there are countless others told by him and his administration, do you want me to start a new thread? I'd be more than happy to!

I don't know as that trumps I did not have sexual relations with that woman, but Clintons fabrication certainly in no way surpasses Bushs'.

One was the lie any man on this forum would tell if caught with his pants down. (Probably. Most all anyhow I'd bet)

The other is just a plain old backpeddle.

That's a "lie"?

Start a new thread. It will be interesting for you to put some meat on the bones of this tired nonsense.

Yes, that's a lie. Claiming you never said something that you actually said is a lie. Do you disagree with this?

Can't we agree that they're both liars? They are politicians after all.

One is a deliberate untruth told by Clinton who had intimate knowledge of the fact of the untruth, with the intent to mislead the US public. It was stated with plenty of time aforethought for Clinton to have weighed his choice of words and chosen a deliberate lie.

The other is an off-the-cuff remark uttered by Bush during a debate with zero advance planning. He stated "I just don't think," which on the one hand states his position that he doesn't think he said those words. It could certainly have been a truthful statement (putting aside for the moment the fact that he never did utter those exact words) if he did not recall having said on that prior occasion that he was "not that concerned about" bin Laden. That's not even getting into the possible nuances of the context of his 3/13/02 statement. You cannot show an intent to mislead.

Again I will say that this situation could have been avoided if the judges in Florida had not been such an embarrassment to their own governor and our country...

You're from the middle of the heartland Tico. Are you familiar with the saying "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining'?

lie = false witness

Like the lies that Michael told the judge... false witness...
But the judges swallowed it hook line and sinker...

Jesus, Tico, there's no point having a discussion with someone who insists on being so dense that they try to twist people's words completely to mean something different.

But, then again, you are a lawyer, so why did I expect anything other than deception and an unwillingness to admit the truth from you? Conversation over.

No. But if one were to do that, that would be a good example of a lie.

Not necessarily. Were I too unrinate down your back and yell out that it's raining perhaps my meaning would be that it's raining piss on you. There is a question of clear meaning here, and what of the nuance in the statement? You cannot show an intent to mislead. Razz

I'm suggesting possibilities for meaning that you refuse to consider because you have formulated the belief that he's a liar. You believed him to be a liar prior to his making that statement, so don't act like you aren't biased against him in this respect. I'm suggesting an explanation that does not include an intent to mislead, which Clinton certainly had. You don't agree, because you think that if someone says something that turns out not to be true, it is a lie. You fail or refuse to consider the motive or intent of the speaker when you make that assessment.
