One thing I just remembered and looked up is that while they don't tout it, the runners-up get money, too. So playing for 2nd place actually isn't a bad strategy -- not for a million, but for $250,000:
Quote:The winner still gets $1 million, and though Probst didn't have the
specific amounts, he estimated the runner-up now will receive
$250,000, followed by $175,000 for third place, $115,000 for
fourth-place and $85,000 for fifth place. In prior seasons, the
runner-up received $100,000, so clearly the stakes are higher this
year, which Probst said had a bearing on the way the players played."

And Ian got $175,000 (or so) and a car. Not bad.
Interesting information. It's nice to know that the final five are all rewarded and their prize gets bigger the longer they can manage to stay in the game.
Those numbers were from the All-Star game, not sure what they are now -- higher (they seemed to go up steadily) or lower (not All-Stars, though.)
But yeah, nice to know they get something. Well, not Katie. :-D
I think it would be more interesting if the #2 got nothing and #3 was the first to get a runner-up prize -- I think playing for #2 has been a problem with several seasons, people being willing to be the weak one. I'd be awfully happy with $250,000!!
Did Ian vote in favor of Tom and against Katie?
Was Coby's vote the only one that Katie received?
I don't think it ever showed all of them, just enough to know that Tom won. But the only one they showed that was for Katie was the one that they showed Coby writing. Usually what that means is that it was the only one. They try to stretch it out as far as possible ("I'll go tally the votes" means "I'll go off-camera while producers arrange votes for maximum drama"), so given the fact that Tom won, I think if there were any other votes for Katie, we would've seen them. Tom - Katie - Tom - Katie - Tom - Tom. (Right? 4 votes means he won, 7 people on the jury?) As opposed to what it was -- Tom - Katie - Tom - Tom - Tom.
It probably says on the Survivor website.
