Never been to France, have no plans to go.....

curious - is there truth in what I've heard that the French are not particulary concerned with physical cleanliness?

Haven't seen that touched on yet.

Of course, I'm the one who showers twice a day, at least.

And you know this as well from having observed French women? (Where, s-v-p?)

Wow!

No. I heard the armpit bread story through the grapevine. Have you never seen this? Have you never seen a hairy Frenchwoman? Why so defensive about hairy Frenchwomen?

the finest soaps still come from france ... and last time i checked the french were still using their soaps.
french soap does seem to smell just a little better than "janitor in a drum". hbg

I would have thought someone would have made a value statement about that soap by now.

I mean.......c'mon.

But, it's ugly, hamburger.

Why, hamburger? Is that some insult? And unprovoked yet? I would have thought someone of your advanced age would be better behaved.

Ah, well. Canadians.

It looks like any natural soap product looks like, and it smells definately like lavender. (Any idea, how lavender essence looks like and smells?)

May sound stupid (again) here, but that soap and bubble bath both look like gift items, things bought for appearance and rarely used. Maybe I'm just not reading between the lines of everyones posts.

I'm talking about everyday soap and body wash products.

A long time ago I read that the french buy the smallest # of bars of soap per capita than, well, mabye not anywhere else, but are below most other countries

Keep telling things from Dark Ages is maybe good for the ego...

Evolution, how?

Sorry I offended Francis, it's not my ego I'm trying to inflate - just askin' a question.

If you're telling me that not true, that's great, it's nothing I would bring up again.

But how does one know, if one does not ask?
I've seen quite a number of very insulting things said on this thread, I thought mine was not so bad in comparison, and was asked in sincerity.

And still, I have no answer. If the answer if no, come out and say it.
If the answers remain obtuse, well, I won't know what to think.

Chai Tea, I think it has something to do with your rather young age. That's my impression from personal expeience. I would never have thought of using bubble bath in my youth/young adult, but now enjoy a bubble bath now and again. I'm now 70 years old. Wink

I'm 46 CI.

and being sidetracked.

I'm officially confused. I know this is a humor thread, but.......

I have read various posts calling the French cowards, immoral, adulterous (by you, C.I.) They have also been called cheap, rude, having hairy pitts and legs by other posters.
All stated as facts, whether meaning in a humorous way or not.

Now, I ask an admittedly loaded question, but in all sincerity so that I may learn a little about a culture I have no knowledge of, and am acused of trying to build up my own ego by speaking of things from the Dark Ages, and it being implied I am not evolved as a human. Also, being shown ACTUAL pictures (oh my) of cleansing products, like that answers the question.

and lash posts something like "I would have thought someone would have made a value judgement about that soap by now. I mean, c'mon"

Again, maybe I'm just being incredibly dense today, but I am totally lost.

Francis, I already apoligized for being offensive to you. I was just asking a question about the French. There is no insult intended. I don't think my question is any different than asking a German how many beers the average person drinks in a day.
Would you prefer if I asked you how many cigarettes you smoke?

CI - I have always hated baths, I don't believe I will ever like them, even at 80. I especially dislike bubble baths.

Good Day.

If I had the choice between a french lady who doesn't
shave her armpits, and an obese 300 lb. women from
the United States, the choice would be easy.

French parfume, french soap, and french food are famous
around the world, and used not only by the french.
They shower daily and the majority of women shave not
only their armpits.

Progress is made everywhere,
except in ignorant minds.
