@revelette1,
Rev, you can relax. Paul Ryan won't even let Republicans vote on this bill.

Because this: “Its repeal of the Affordable Care Act and extreme cuts to health care, retirement security, anti-poverty programs, education, infrastructure, and other critical investments are real and will inflict serious harm on American families.”

Would be a hell of a midterm attack line.

@Real Music,
The real vote that counts is in November. Elect members of the democratic party if you want to retain social programs. The republicans want to cut social programs to give bigger tax cuts to the wealthy. Take your pick and vote; you have the choice.

@revelette1,
We as a party can hold the tiny percentage accountable for their votes. It still doesn't change the fact that the two parties are vastly different.

The claim that the two parties are the same is delusional (in the truest sense of the word) when you see budgets like these get proposed

I absolutely AGREE.

@maporsche,
According to a CNN poll, the democrats and republicans are close to even. That makes every vote count. https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/09/politics/cnn-poll-generic-ballot-narrows/index.html

@cicerone imposter,
Don’t worry about me CI. My vote is for the D’s.

Although living in Illinois it doesn’t mean much. No way my district goes R.

That is why it is so important that we as democrats do our part, by getting to the polls and vote democrat.

Don't take it for granted. Still get out and vote. Your vote can also have affect on down ballot races, which are also important. Voting dems in local down ballot races can often be just as important.

@Real Music,
I know, but thanks.

Now if only some of our Jill Stein supporters in Texas and other red states could follow our lead.

I do like Bernie Sanders. Bernie is okay in my book.
I actually support Bernie Sanders.
But, on the other hand, I don't like Jill Stein.
I mean I really don't like Jill Stein.

even more important - that's where new, young politicians are coming from

gotta encourage them and get them the political experience

I remember listening to adults talking about LBJ when I was a kid. They said the reason he was so effective (before he became president) was because he'd come up through the ranks and "knew where the bodies were buried"

With the exception of Cook County (and maybe one other) Illinois was solid red in the last election. The corrupt Democratic machine is all-powerful in Chicago, but, who knows, guys like Rahm Emanuel may disgust enough voters to change that. Obama is ripping them off bigtime, too, with his ambitious, self-serving presidential library shenanigans. The south side aint the least bit happy. A Trump-like candidate could possibly overthrow the machine with a grass roots alternative.

12 counties in Illinois went for Clinton in 2016. Those 12 counties represent probably 80% of the state population.

Corn fields still can't vote. Neither do soy fields. Nor do cows.
