Up against the wall,
going down
in an elevator,

It's a Wednesday,
hump day.

All banged up,
nothing to show
but a beautiful glow.

<Okay, it's only Monday, but I cry poetic licence>

I've just done a quick read of this thread, and agree with a lot, especially on ehBeth's last post.

On the reading business, part of my learning I was a sexual being, years ago, was from reading a scene in the Virginian, a western. And then I read some Zane Grey books. (There were all that were available in my aunt's house, those and Reader's Digest and the Liguorian.) If I found that scene in the Virginian, now, it would be beyond me to say why it was an awakening type scene.. no sexual movement in it, but it tapped into my then asleep imagination, and that is the essence of what folks are trying to say to explain the connection between romance novels and porn.

Back when these threads started to show up, Nimh wrote a lengthy explanatory and fairly kind post on how it is for a guy. I'd like to go back and find that, since I keep seeing that that post would be handy to use in a lot of these porn questions.

LOL! You're too funny Laughing

I never thought of making love as work, but just having meaningless sex to me is work. I've been on both sides and just plain sex doesn't do it for me.

I see what you mean, but there is so little actual love making in the novels that I read and it isn't even very detailed, so this is why I think relating it to porn is absurd.

Montana, I think we all understand that you don't feel the romance novels you read are porn, or have anything in common with porn, or have any of the same benefits of porn.

In the meantime, meaningless sex can be excellent sex. I kinda miss the late 1970's, before you had to think about sex.

Actually...I don't think any sex is "meaningless"...but I understand both Montana and you when you use that expression.

And I most assuredly agree that sex...the kind you are referring to as "meaningless"...can be both satisfying and rewarding.

I think most of us like sex best when it is with someone we love very much and are loved in return...but to suggest in any way that the only kind of sex that can be "meaningful" is sex that occurs under those ideal circumstances...is to put way too fine an edge on things.

That having been said, however...

...to each his (or her) own!
