The primary problem with Bush is his ignorance about what "democracy" means. Bush also doesn't understand the meaning of "tyrant."

FLASH!

BUSH PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY DESTROYED BY FLOOD
Crawford, Texas -- A tragic flood this morning destroyed the personal
library of President George W. Bush. The flood began in the presidential
bathroom where the books were kept.

Both of his books have been lost.

A presidential spokesman said the president was devastated, as he had
almost finished coloring the second one.

The White House tried to call FEMA but there was no answer.

From today's San Jose Mercury News:

Study: Bush has more access to intelligence than Congress

Bush has said that Democratic lawmakers who authorized the use of force against Iraq and now criticize the war saw the same pre-invasion intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction that he did.

The president made that claim in recent speeches about Iraq.

The Congressional Research Service, by contrast, said: "The president and a small number of presidnetially designated Cabenit-level officials, including the vice president...have access to a far greater overall volume of intelligence and to more sensiteive intelligence information, including information regarding intelligence sources and methods."

Bush continues his lies.

Yet more misleading statements using the words "the President" and "intelligence" in association.

c.i.: I just don't think you've figured out the purpose of this thread. It really isn't for you and blatham to disburse your hatred and contempt for all things Bush. You have many, many other threads for that, including many for that specific purpose. Walter has pointed to one of the many above. In fact, Chances are good that if the article casts Bush in a negative light, BBB has already started a thread for that specific news article.

Please try and use a little discretion. Thanks.

Perhaps a "Democrat Supporters' Thread"? I was going to suggest this a while back, but since I'm not the originator of this thread....

That way, as Tico points out, c.i., blatham, McTag, etal could really let loose their hatred of all things Bush (and would have a good following I'll bet), but those of us who foolishly see the glass half-full would be spared reading it.

As there anything special associated to an "originator of a thread" which I've overead in the TOS?

It's called common courtesy, Walter. Continuously posting off-topic is gauche.

In fact, courtesy is mentioned in the TOS.

TOS III.B.1 also refers to "spam." These posts I'm referring to are precisely that ... spam.

No -- just as there is nothing special associated to a "host" in real life that is regulated by law. Nevertheless, it is considered bad form to attend a party just to keep yelling at its host that his political party is a bunch of bandits. Even when that's true, real life customs encourage such guests to either get a grip on themselves or leave the party. (CI knows this. I have met him in real life, and he is as friendly, intelligent, generous and courteous as any online acquaintance I had the pleasure to meet so far.)

I do believe there is a parallel between real-life hosts in houses and virtual hosts in threads. To explore the consequences arising from that parallel is left as an excercise to the reader.

As far as I do remember, Tico never spammed the Democrats' "weeping and gnashing teeth" thread. But he still left it within a few posts of his being asked to, and never returned to it. If you are suggesting that double standards are at play here, I believe Tico is the wrong target for your suggestion.

The only crime that I've observed about tico is his excellent ability to egg peope on (including me). From my understanding of tos, that's not a crime on these boards (or at home).

My honest observation about politics is our ability to see the bad and less of the good about any president depending on our leanings.

Politics and politicians are not known for their ethics and the responsibilities they have been given by their election to office. A good example of that is Mayor Ron Gozalez of San Jose, California. The civil grand jury wrote a report on Mayor Gonzalez for his secret deal made with the garbage company that assured an addition 11.25 million during the contract. That is not only against state and local laws, but Mayor Gonzalez did it anyway - under the table. At first he denied doing such a thing when the grand jury report came out. A investigation insued that found that Mayor Gonzalez did hide this contract from the city council and the people of San JOse - a crime.

He recently apologized, but many are asking for his resignation or for the grand jury to fire him.

Unless the citizens of local, state, or federal government can be assured that the business of the people are done in the open and above board (without fraud), we all lose.

Finally, I will admit I have tried to stay away from demonizing Bush on this thread, but have been weak when I see such blind support for a president that continues to tell the American People and the world that "congress saw the same intelligence that he saw" in approving his case for war. How can I keep silent when I read and see otherwise? Don't they care for the truth?

So really CI, wouldn't the courteous thing be to start your own Bush bashing thread and not be discourteous on this one?

There are plenty of Bush bashing threads already. What you people want is a sanitized thread on Bush supporters; something Bush would be proud of.

Here's a good case in point about Bush.

From the BBC:

Bush stands firm over spying row

Bush refused to confirm or deny the allegations
President George W Bush insists he has not compromised civil liberties, after it was alleged he authorised people in the US to be bugged without a warrant.

Bush is the same man who said we do not torture prisoners, but wanted our congress to authorize torture, and not charge CIA agents.
