FreeDuck, True! However, we must look at several government sponsored social benefits of competing countries that have a) universal health insurance, and b) government mandates for more fuel efficiency.

LOL! I wouldn't be surprised if c.i. is one of the supposed 43% in this country that thinks we're in a recession.

Freeduck - do you think higher taxes would be a good thing?

We must? Which ones should we look at?

Objectivity? Like the Salon articles Bernie posts? Can anybody on the left honestly say they hope Iraq is successful beyond anybody's wildest dreams? Can they honestly say they hope this President is right? Can they admit that if the President lied about Iraq, then so did virtually every other politician in Washington as well as their staffers and intelligence agencies, most other national leaders and the UN?

Since I don't believe for a minute that any of the lefties in this forum can honestly say that, I have to believe that what they do say, without credible substantiation, is purely propaganda and that those on the right have the best handle on objecivity.

Here's one.

Quote:

One of the most decorated British fighter pilots of the Second World War has sold his medals, diaries and other memorabilia partly to pay for a hip replacement operation for his wife who faced at least a six-month wait on the National Health Service.

Sqn Ldr Neville Duke, 83, the Royal Air Force's top-scoring ace in the Mediterranean theatre who set a world air speed record of 728 mph in 1953, put the collection up for auction rather than subject his wife Gwen to months of pain and discomfort while she waited for an operation...

Higher than what? I think that a balanced budget would be a good thing. I think cutting spending, but not where it hurts the many to benefit a few, would be a good thing. I think eliminating pork would be a good thing.

If the idea behind cutting taxes is to stimulate the economy, and if we've already done that, why not get back to funding the government now that everything is hunky-dorey? Why are we spending so much money if we have no plans to increase revenues?

Great JW. So no need to continue right? The economy is chugging right a long. Mission accomplished, now back to the budget.

Was just wondering what you meant by the above 'bolded' sentence.

This guy/gal says it with a supposed straight face that Bush doesn't use propaganda in his speeches. What a laugh! And this guy is serious!

This guy/gal as you stated, C.I., is a woman, and I might add, very capable of backing up anything she states. Can you say the same thing about you?

Perhaps you might want to read that statement again and understand what it really means. Didn't you catch the "without credible substantiation" part? Don't you think that qualified that statement? Rolling Eyes

It has been told to me that if one makes assertions they need to back them up. I believe you might have been one of those to tell me that.

I give you credit though. At least you admitted you don't always do that.

WASHINGTON - North Dakota Rep. Earl Pomeroy is accusing Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean of overstepping his bounds, saying the former presidential candidate should not give up on the war in Iraq.

On Monday, Dean likened the war in Iraq to Vietnam and said, "The idea that the United States is going to win the war in Iraq is just plain wrong."

"My words to Howard Dean are simple - shut up," Pomeroy told WDAY Radio in North Dakota on Thursday.
