@Seed,
My husband told me a little girl and her mom stopped to take pictures of my tulip garden for her school project.

I'm a school project!

Scene: Anthropologie entrance. I'm going in, nice woman is on her way out.

Nice Woman, checking me out: "Where did you get that scarf?!"

Me: "Old Navy, actually!"

NW: "You're serious? I love it."

Me: "Thanks! It was like 10 bucks."

NW <shakes her head in a way that encompasses "it'd be about $83 here" and "isn't that ridiculous" and "by the way super-nice scarf" and "I'm going to Old Navy, okseeyabye.">

Calamity Jane and I went to see some Portuguese dude named Cabrillo yesterday. Lots of smiles on both of us, although Cabrillo himself is not a smiler at all. Evidently he's too busy casting his visionary look across the Pacific.

@Thomas,
How was the weather there at Pt. Loma? Seems there would be great views from the Cabrillo monument. (Hi to CJane!)

I'm smitten. We'll see how long that lasts!

Yes, my last one was going South for too long. I can still access my stuff, so I'll transfer over time.

Oh for quite a while, I imagine, k.

@ossobuco,
Hi, Osso!
The weather was indeed very nice. Jane and I waved hello to many nuclar sumarines and drug smuggler boats. We also theorized about the uses to which the Mexicans might put those three little islands we saw at the horizon.

PS: happy new computer day, k!

Nothing made me smile today. I was laughing too much. I couldn't stop laughing long enough to smile.

@Thomas,
Yes osso, we practically were part of our national defense system yesterday,
but I have to say that Thomas smiled the most when he had some Applestrudel
at the German restaurant.

Thomas, I'll put the pictures up on the gallery thread if you don't mind!

What made me smile today - in relief: I heard from the cousin I visited last December in California. Her husband, whom I also call cousin, had a terrible set of episodes last Monday, electrical impulses shooting across his brain ear to ear, and after much waiting and seeing (while in touch with emergency by phone) and going to emergency, the med staff finally figured out it was his heart repeatedly stopping, and not a brain event - even though he was awake during all the episodes, as long as eight seconds. They rushed him to surgery but had to fit him with a temporary external pace maker while going in to give him a regular heat pace maker. Very touch and go, egads.

These are cool people but it was tough on both of them. I'm so happy they came through it, with the good med/surgical care.

@ossobuco,
So am I, osso. Your cousin is such a nice person and her husband (I am sure)
too. I'm glad it worked out good for them.

@CalamityJane,
He and one of his sons will miss out on a certain boat race to Ensenada but as cousin husband said, "this way I'll be around for next year".
