@littlek,
Yesterday someone asked me what roasts we were having and I was very busy and hurried and I said 'Borf and peek' instead of pork and beef. My daughter and I almost fell on the floor laughing- the poor people who were trying to order were looking at each other like, 'these crazy Americans- they really DO speak another language'.
I told my friend about it last night and he said, 'Next week you'll have to say, 'Lork and pam' instead of pork and lamb.
I know that's all that'll be in my brain and what I'll say despite myself.
Another thing that made me smile yesterday - a little boy came in with his family - mom, dad, brother and two cousins. I was talking quite a lot to the older brother because he reminded me of one of my son's friends at that age (12) and he was very articulate and interesting and I had asked him his name, which was James - which I told him is my brother's name- and the little brother piped in and said, 'My name is Sean'. I said, 'Oh, that's a nice name' and he said, 'Aren't you going to ask me what my middle name is?' So I did, and he said, 'It's a sad middle name. It's Riddock. It's sad because it's the name of my father's brother who died before he was even born.'
This little boy couldn't have been more than four years old. What an empathetic and intelligent little treasure he is.
He not only made me smile - he made my whole day.
