@Izzie,
It's Saturday, and there is a public holiday on Monday.

@Izzie,
Issie, I like that: the 'bigness' of it all. The Oceanic Vision, perhaps?

@spendius,
You are correct, Spendius--rabbit **** does indeed drop with a plop and gives off an odd bubble. I wonder if my olfactory nerves are especially sensitive. I seem to smell rabbit **** whenever Dlowan appears on these threads.

@genoves,
I smiled today (well, really yesterday) when I went on facebook and my sister was there and she said hi, so I went back and said, 'Hey-what're you doing?' and then my friend Danny came on and said, 'Are you talking to me?' and I said, 'No, I was talking to Catherine (who he knows) but before I could post that he wrote back 'I'm taking Jonathan (his son who is 14) to Asbury Park tonight because his band won a spot in this Youtube competition to play at the Stone Pony.'
And then Catherine wrote back before I could respond - 'Remember when we used to hang out at the Stone Pony because Rebecca was obsessed with Bruce Springsteen and wanted to see if she could 'happen' to be there when he was?'
And I wrote back - 'I was not obsessed'
But Danny wrote, 'I've always told her, Bruce sucks- thank god, Jon is cut from his old man's mold - stones all the way' before I could write back.

It reminded me of the real-life sort of conversations we all used to have - everyone talking over everyone.

And I'm really smiling for Danny and his son - they are both awesome guitarists and playing the Stone Pony at the age of fourteen is pretty damn impressive.

@aidan,
I also got invited to join the 'Mos Definitely Spoken Poets' group by an ex-student on Facebook.
Too bad I have no understanding of how to join any group - and never have - that also makes me smile.

this made me smile, and even do a little dance

The Housmartins classic album, London 0 - Hull 4, gets deluxe two disc reissue

disc two includes "Rap Around The Clock", in which Norman Cook hints of things to come

@Rockhead,
Waking up to a big, loud thunderstorm, complete with downpoar and all. Love it!

@Thomas,
Thomas, I love that too. Osso, Diane, BBB, Dys and I live in deserts. What we have to look forward to is our monsoon seasons around late summer. Those are wonderful: Nature comes aggressively alive.

@JLNobody,
Reading a letter from an archbishop telling one of his posh lady communicants not to think of herself.

Thomas and I experienced the same storm. I was already (still) awake. Made me jump. A couple of thunder claps set off every car alarm on the block. I love nature when it's being assertive. Not nasty, just assertive.

@Roberta,
Love the part about the car alarms. I didn't hear anything of that kind. Apparently, Joisey cars are configured to be less obnoxious. Joisey drivers, on the other hand ....

@Thomas,
We had hail about quarter size. It was banging off our metal roof . I checked for damage, the metals pretty thick so were safe. There was a tornado warning for the area around the Md state line just south of us.

Assertive, bordering on antisocial.

@JLNobody,
This is great, unless you are driving as I was the first time, house sitting for Dys and Diane, driving on Central, when the heavens burst and - with ABQ's lame efforts at street striping, had no clue re lanes or where to get off. Adrenalin rush.

Excuse me for a tangent - albuquerque has the worst traffic/road department I've ever seen. To start with, the whole place seems bereft re drainage savvy.

Oh, wait, re smiling - I still like it here, she grumbles.

That produced a smile of satisfaction. I wouldn't want anything to happen to effemm's menage. It is a source of much joy.

Some nice words from my old boss (work in same company but now different locations). She is still such a good friend of mine and she let me unload current stresses on her and then gave me much to smile about.

Perfect. Yes, me too.

Today's smile... a baby bulldog napping on me for about an hour. I've never been much of a bulldog fan. This one was incredibly cute. Romping and playful, then jumped up on my lap, looked me in the eyes, and then snuggled in and nodded off.

That sounds very impressive. Maybe, though, I shouldn't plan on hiking in Chaco Canyon in late summer.

Sozobe -- I think your family needs a dog already. Now that you've managed to warm up to a bulldog, maybe you can also warm up to one of those hairless Chinese breeds. They would get you around EG's allergy problem, too.

Out at Featherdale Wildlife Park, with the godson and his parents. At 22 months old, all is exciting!

We saw some fantastic 7-week old dingo pups. So cute! Their handlers were trying to teach them to walk on leashes, and were trying to put harnesses on them. These little terrors were chewing on everything they could reach, jumping and rolling around. Took about 15 minutes of fun to harness one of them.

Their mother started crying when they got led away from their enclosure - even though there were still 2 left there.

Good day!
