@msolga,
... to assist in this delicate process, is there a support group one can join? A patch, or something, one can apply during the crucial withdrawal phase? How to best achieve this enlightened goal, I wonder? Wink

@msolga,
Actually, there was a smile-worthy moment just now.

I'd gone to the movies with two friends of mine, and I was just dropping off the girl at her place - cause it's two blocks from mine, no other reason - when this other girl approaches us and asks the way to Instant, one of these courtyard pubs.

She was the sweetest dreadlocked girl, and was all apologetic about intruding - she was all, "I didnt mean to interrupt a moment", averting her eyes so we could say goodbye ... So my friend and I did this whole dramatic thing: oh yes, it was just going to be our moment, and now it will never happen, my love for you will always be an unrequited love, oh silent suffering! It was funny.

Anyway, dreadlock girl turned out to be really cute and, amazingly, Dutch. We hugged and I gave her my number - one for on a long list in her phone I'm sure ;-)

@msolga,
Well I'm still not quite sure whether it was a smart way to go in the first place ... the world out there is a pretty scary place, lots of things to do and ways to get hurt.

OK it would probably help to just not get involved in stupid ****.

@nimh,
When you're ready, nimh. All in good time. And you'll know when that time is.

In the meantime, that girl with your phone number sounds delightful! Wink

@nimh,
Awwwww! And good on ya for acting on it.

Those moments are so sweet, aren't they?

I remember a "crazy love" moment I DIDN'T act on ages ago...

I was stuck at traffic lights for ages.....and glanced up to see this young man walking past...our eyes locked for a moment, and one of those weird wham poweee moments happened.....we both just lit up like lightning! But it was a lovely warm lightning.....

He ran over to the car and started asking for my name and number.....

I refused, because I was pathetically in love with the man I was seeing...

Then the lights changed, and I took off...really regretfully...and he kind of ran after the car for a little while making pleading pantomine motions, and kind of laughing at himself as he did (otherwise I would have just thought he was nuts.)

I always wished I'd given that one a chance.....prolly for no good reason...but that nutty stuff at such a voltage doesn't happen often.

Poor Nimh:

He is so immature that he does not know two very important facts.

l. Those who brag about their prowess with the opposite sex are quite likely to be lying.

2.,Those who brag about their prowess with the opposite sex are probably very emotionally immature and filled with inferiority feelings.

@dlowan,
Aww, that sounds like a wonderful moment! Yes, the one that got away does always make you wonder what if ... But then again, even as it stands it's a lovely experience! Good on you - and even more, on him!

@genoves,
Hi Genoves,

If you took my post as bragging about my prowess with the opposite sex, you misinterpreted it. If only! I'm sadly lacking in such prowess, I'm afraid. This girl was an outgoing, young spontaneous lass heading to have fun at a courtyard pub, so like I said, my number will be one on a long list I'm sure.

I have gotten in a situation or two recently, but they were considerably more messy and nothing like this sweet little anecdote..

As for inferiority feelings though, you're spot on ... what can I say? Life would be considerably easier if so much of my feeling about myself did not depend on how I perceive others to feel about me.

In a perverse way, though, that's why I always check out a thread when I see that you've responded. This time your insult was crude but pretty restrained still - kudos. But generally the insults you're slinging are so over the top and out there, it just makes me laugh about things that I might otherwise have fretted about. It's kind of addictive - it really relativates things. Smile

@nimh,
During my college years, I invited a young lass to my apartment for dinner, and spent the time to go grocery shopping and started to cook. When the door bell rang, I went to answer it, but it was the girl's friends who showed up who said she will not be coming.

I was so upset, I burned my hand, and the scar stayed with me for several decades, but alas, that scar is now completely gone!

@nimh,
Don't want to change the tenor of this smile thread. But my cleaning lady from Colombia smiled when I taught her this one.
