The Lady Diane and meself had dinner tonight with GeorgeOB, I am pretty sure George is both Irish and Catholic although he once pretended to be Jewish because he had the hots for some princess. We had an interesting chat about Tolstoy and Plato. The waitperson liked Lady Diane's shoes.

MY PARK BENCH STARS IN A PLAY
One of my employees, Allen, and Jay, one of his friends, have thrown together a production of Edward Albee's one act Zoo Story. Both of them are quite good actors. 3 shows in an intimate space seating all of 20 people. Pay what you want to watch. $5 is what they hope for.
If you don't know the play, it involves 2 guys, strangers, sitting on a park bench, talking. It doesn't sound like much, but it was one of Albee's best pieces of writing.
Anyway, they needed a park bench, and I have one. So there.

while discussing a zoning complaint against my property by an "anonymous" citizen, with a customer who is also on the town council, I was told...

not to worry, that
I am an asset to the community.

(the last person to tell me that was Miss Noddy.)

@Rockhead,
Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young are headlining Glastonbury and I've been guaranteed a job which means - I have means to enter and be there!

That just made me smile because, being my usual overly optimistic self, I set out on a walk with my dog in my flip flops. It was a little chilly and slightly cloudy, but I didn't want to go back upstairs and find socks to put on so I thought, I'll just walk down to town and back - keeping on the paved roads- my feet won't get cold- I'll be walking...
But I was enjoying my walk, and I saw this little path leading up into the woods that I hadn't been in, and any time I see a path I haven't been down, I have to follow it - so I did, forgetting that it's rained every night for the last week - anyway- I ended up slogging through mud in my flip-flops. You should see my feet.

So - I do have wellies and I will bring them for sure to Glastonbury, but I was also thinking that since it's rained like a monsoon at least three of the last four years (I don't know what the weather did last year) I'm pretty SURE that it will NOT rain this year.
And the thought of two days outside listening to music in the sunshine - makes me smile.

@nimh,
Yesterday I noticed the house sign of this obviously Victorian house (all the houses are named here and every house has a sign with the name of the house on it).
I live in a fairly conservative village and in England that means lots of Tories...

The name of the house you could tell used to be : Victorian House
but some smart aleck cut both ends of the sign off so it now says: torian Ho

Sort of disrespectful and definitely not a nice thing to do to someone's house sign, but I thought it was sort of clever and it did make me smile.
Merry Andrew

Friday afternoon. I was heading home, just like many other folks on a beautiful day in Cville. The start of a 3-day weekend (Memorial Day).
I was waiting to make the left turn from Emmet St onto Barracks Rd. I was heading to the bank there on the corner. I noticed a young man escorting, arm in arm, an elderly black lady up the sidewalk. I recognized him because of his red hair. He is a teller at my bank. Naturally red haired.
You don't see many red-headed people anymore. Unless you count the folks who work for me and other businesses in the area who come to work with different colored hair in different hairdos on an almost daily basis.
Anyway, I pulled into the bank parking lot. And I watched as the lad raised his left hand to stop the west-bound two lanes of traffic, and then his right hand to stop two lanes of east-bound traffic, so he and the lady could cross to get her to where she wanted to be.

I smiled today when I re-read that the Socialist paradise of Hungary was going to hell because of official misconduct and adherence to impossible Socialistic goals.

Maybe Nimh can open a papricka farm. He can call it Nimhprick farms!!

The breakfast song. I believe it comes out of Mississippi - best line:
"One of these mornings/God is gonna' call me home/I won't need no breakfast/I'll be gone, gone..." Laughing
