It did make me smile tho, both for turbofrog himself and for your sis' evident delight.
There was some rich drama along the way, too. 36 hours before learning the good news; he learned that he only made the waiting list at his second choice (Harvard)... and that he had actually been turned down by Amherst. He had thought he had a great interview at Harvard, a lousy one at Yale, and since Yale is relatively small... he figured a turn down from Amherst spelled certain doom. He'll graduate over 4.0, tests off the charts, is very well rounded, but that’s the case with thousands of kids every year that don't make the cut. I can only imagine how sweet the relief after those 36 hours of agony! He called Sis (mom to him) to tell her about a rainbow in the sky when he was leaving school. Something about God looking out for him, which, of course, tickled her to death (she and the boy are atheists.

)
At any rate; they're walking between the raindrops today!
@OCCOM BILL,
Aw, didn't see this 'til now... so great, I'm really happy for him.
@sozobe,
watching the blackbirds busying themselves in the garden made me smile and finally laugh .
i had carefully raked all the leaves into the hedge last fall .
so a family of blackbirds came along this morning : three of them kept sicking their heads into the tightly packed keaves , gave a heave-ho and threw the leaves into the air ... and the other blackbirds were right behind them looking for tasty bits hidden under the leaves .
after about half an hour they had managed to undo my work along one of the hedge rows - they decided to leave - no doubt to return tomorow .
certainly a hard-working bunch of birds ... but despite my urging , they refused to put the leaves back into the hedge and left them on the lawn ... more work for me .
cheecky buggers !

Going through old photos.

that's always worth a laugh or two !
@hamburger,
We had the doors to the store open today. It was quite mild. Outside, alongside the parking lot, are 3 Sycamore trees. A crow perched at the top of one of them and for several hours cawed and cawed in a voice that I guess he hoped would attract a mate. It didn't seem to be going well for him.
Anyway, a well-known actress-you would know her name- came in. She comes by somewhat regularly. She comes in and says to my staff: "He is one loud bastard!" Her husband, 8 ft behind her, says "She's not talking about me, I hope."

hmmmm - i guess you aren't willing to lose a customer or possibly two by revealing the name here
you know , it's all TOP-SECRET here : what appears on a2k stays on a2k - and you can bet your store on it !!!

What made me smile today?
Well,I was at my bank this morning; there was a
short line. Just one lady in front of me,
an Asian lady who was trying to exchange yen
for dollars. It was obvious she was a little irritated.
She asked the teller, 'Why it change?
Yesterday, I get two hunat dolla fo yen.
Today I only get hunat eighty? Why it change?'
The teller shrugged his shoulders and said,
'Fluctuations.'
The Asian lady says, 'Fluc you white people too!'
@JLNobody,
Seeing "Seed" pop up on the board. Happy Days. The young man is coming home soon.
@JLNobody,
Thomas and Dys talking.. good conversations.
@hamburger,
I wish I could remember who everyone in the pictures were. I stare a pictures of people I loved and can't remember their names.

I went to Yale, it's great.
I did the whole place in 2-3 hours.

Reading all of your posts is making me smile! I need to come to this thread more often. I will not be moving out of here until October. I did find the perfect place, though. It's just a stones throw from my job, it's a beautiful spacious apartment, there is a large outdoor patio so I can let the herd out into the fresh air once in a while, the kitchen is HUGE especially for an apartment and the biggest advantage is that I am out in the suburbs and away from all of this crime and turmoil!! I never wanted a year to go by so fast. Come on October!!
I am feeling a lot better, though. It's good to know that I have found a place and that I have a plan. I am also heading off to the zoo tomorrow to test out the new camera and the weather is supposed to be beautiful.
That Big O has joined CND.
this weekend :-).
had an animated, happy chat-cum-job interview with a girl from the media center of the university here on friday night - she is super awesome and her colleagues sound the same. we met in the coffeeshop and just kept chatting for a couple of hours. (it would be a part-time job, not as fancy as what i do now and lots of procedural complications involved, but sure sounds worth a shot!)
went photographing an abandoned factory quarter in csepel on saturday afternoon with a friend of anastasia's, who's ******* awesome too and quickly becoming the person i trust and enjoy being round most, and a french guest of a friend of hers. it was brilliant.
on sat night went to see a movie called berlin calling with someone from work. she's cool and the movie was very, very good. hadnt sounded too convincing in the description, but it was amazing.
today i went out to see the fascists march, which can be a lot more fun than it sounds, especially if you bring your camera. fascinating, in many ways, even while it's also very worrying of course. also met up with homegirl from the csepel trip again and her friends, and hung out. lot better with a group than alone.
just talked with my hungarian friend whom i called "zuzanna" here in WMYST posts earlier, who was very sweet + whom i'll meet tomorrow for a coffee. i should also hear back from job interview girl tomorrow, she already told me she wanted me but she needed to talk it over with her colleagues first. if they're sympathetic, the idea is that we'll all go for a drink sometime next week and see from there.
also, it's spring, going out in t-shirt spring!
things are turning around, maybe... or maybe they're not but at least there's joy in the meantime :-)
@Aldistar,
Plans and cameras are good. That new apartment sounds great!
@nimh,
Hey, lots of good stuff there!
@sozobe,
Hi Nimh. Nice to run in to you again. I caught the link to the blog you posted the old photos of Hungary on. Fascinating. Thanks.
