Today something slightly related in the news made me look up the name of one of my clients in the nineties to see if she were listed online, perhaps in wiki. And yes.

I don't want to say more about her - first of all, it's her business and, besides, she had what she understood as a terminal illness at the time - but that in her younger years she had been in a concentration camp... and that she was an elegant woman with whom I had many interesting conversations other than about my and her bit of designing.

Wiki filled in some info gaps for me, fascinating, fascinating. What a lame word is fascinating.

There was a long and often contentious meeting last night re whether or not the power company should be allowed to build a 3rd nuclear power plant at Lake Anna, 40 miles NE of Cville. The meeting was for public input, with the board accepting thoughts, without comment from the members, from the people.
Did I mention it was a long and contentious meeting? I am not exaggerating more than I usually do when I say that the board members and most of the audience were visibly sagging.
Into the 4th hour a young woman came up to the mike, introduced herself, and asked for a volunteer from the audience to join her. A hand immediately shot up. Her boy friend's hand. He came forward. She taped a sign to his back: "VA Power." He taped a note to her back: "VA Nuclear Power Commission."
They embraced in a hug and then a kiss that went on and on, and on. The chairman adroitly used the opportunity to state "Your time to speak has expired. This meeting is over." The gavel came down.
Public theatre. Everyone laughed and left.

Little things in life - the new security/reception guys downstairs consistently hold open the door for you when you come in or leave with a bicycle.

yesterday I had the entire day off of work.

I was able to hang out and do what i wanted to do all day.
Had good company for lunch, got to listen to my awful 80s hairband music and hoop to my little hearts delight.

I'm taking on a huge photo project -- organizing, framing, putting into albums, etc. Long overdue. Yesterday I was doing the 2006 album while sozlet's BFF was over. I happened to have some pictures of her (BFF, in the early days of BFF-dom) and showed them to her. The pictures were from three years ago and they both looked so little compared to now, and it was just a nice reminder that we're really putting down some roots, which I love.
