On this gorgeous autumn day, I walked among pines and blazing sugar maples, leaves swirling to the ground around me, the scent of pine needles permeating everything. I just wanted to lay down and freeze time.

power-walking around the west end of the eastern beaches til we got to the little private beach - let the dogs off their leads - Cleo zoomed into the water, dipped and swished, then lay down in the water and smiled - Bailey bounded across the rocks - it was a beautiful cool morning. A lot of people and their dogs were smiling.

My kid doing really well, amazingly hey-is-that-my-kid?? well, at her soccer game today. It's not really a proper story, just a smile. (She's tended towards tentativeness and windedness and then in the last couple of games she's found her killer instinct.)

Today, a little girl in Eklektika (a cafe), where Stasia and I were having a late breakfast. OK, very late breakfast, it was 4 or so. This 3 or 4 year old, came peeking round the corner. I played peek-a-boo with her, she giggled ever louder, then walked back to her table out of sight only to come straight back again, play peek-a-boo some more. Adorable! I guess in the end her mum explained we were foreign cause when they left she waved at us and said "Bye bye! Bye bye!" and waved some more.

Anastasia makes me smile as well. I'm so glad she's here. We're very blissful. Even when we choose to go out to see Resident Evil: Extinction with Milla Jovovich and have 'dinner' at McDonalds afterwards. (Now dare call me an intellectual..)

The woods are alive with the rut and preparation for winter that is fall in the animal kingdom. The trees are blazing reds and oranges and purples. The deer all went off to the secret deer meeting location and forgot to tell me where it is. Flushed eight fat partridge and never touched a feather on one of them, but the pure adrenaline rush that is a thunderchicken flush put several smiles on my face.

A few days ago, Jillian got to watch 101 dalmations.

An obsession with doggies followed... of course.

2 days ago, she decides to be a doggie. I ask her, " where are your ears doggie?"

So she gets up, and runs to her room.......
