When I signed in for bellydance tonight, I finally twigged to something familiar about the magazines stacked just in front of the receptionist ...

what is it about that word?

then they had our Beginner 2 class join the Intermediate class to work on some basic choreography for the December student recital ... what's that they keep singing in that second piece ... ah, yes, it's the title of that magazine .... ha!
Second clip at this site ...

Small world

Very Happy

Co-worker of mine took a position with a new company few weeks ago, and fowarded my resume along for the New England position. Got an email today I replied to, then got a call 20 minutes later, and all of a sudden I'm flying out to OK Wednesday for an interview with the company execs. Significant increase in salary, company car, and seems like a very good ground floor opportunity.

Wow, good luck, Slappy! Just make sure they don't eventually expect you to relocate to OK.

No, I'd be helping grow their business in New England. If there's any relocation opportunities, it wouldn't be until down the line.

Good grief, Beth, when do you usually wake up?!

Much of the trip to a huuuuuuge family gathering this weekend made me smile, but the part that's making me smile right now when I think of it is just that traveling as a duo (me and sozlet but not E.G.) was so fun, and the possibilities thereof. (E.G. flew separately to the same event.) It's the first time we've done that since the kid was born, and it went even more smoothly than with E.G., rather than being more difficult. (He is, er, temporally challenged -- think Dasha -- and it was such a luxury to not be in a gigantic rush, for example.) Plus it's only 2/3rds of the price to us as a family if just sozlet and I travel, and we can ignore E.G.'s (crammed) schedule. So I'm planning to camp on discount travel sites and see what we can come up with -- I think at least a trip to Florida to visit my favorite cousin and finally introduce sozlet to the ocean is in the offing. Yay! :-D

My nephew is now three and a half years old.. and as of last night, he got himself a little brother.

He was real excited about the whole thing. About my sister being pregnant .. big belly ... thats where the new kid would come from!

It was a few days ago, in my sisters last days of pregnancy, that, just three years old, he had his Idea moment.

"If the baby comes from mama's belly ... then how does he get in mama's belly?"

Eeehhhhrrrmmmmm yes dad you handle that one Laughing

He was, it must be added, slightly disappointed that he didnt get a little baby sister. Thats what he really wanted. My sister comforted him: but little brothers are fun too! Like, you can play football with them!

But they raised him well, my nephew, apparently, in properly emancipated family tradition. He looked like he was thinking deeply for a moment and then replied, in decided voice: girls can play football too!

On a wholly different note; tonight in Grissini there was this girl. And you know, there is this point - this point, where what you'd normally call bad taste goes so outrageous, that you can only be awed by it. Purple-white, warm form-fitting woollen sweater; over it, black, fake fur-lined bodywarmer; underneath, an extremely short jeans skirt with oversized velours brown belt - lengths of slender legs - and black cowboyboots (with those wavy frilly cloth-strips and all). Kudos. She's got guts.

Uh, wait a minute.

Maybe we'd rather Slappy stayed in Boston after all!

It really became apparent today that I love being part of the school. Kids called me by (my) name in the halls (and even seemed happy to see me).

I think there's two kinds of teachers: those who could care less about the kids and do it because it's their job, and those that really do like working with kids.

Well I got the new job, bitches.

I believe Slappy is now employed as a fashion designer by some prestigious Boston clothier.
