What a coincidence coming into this thread at this moment and reading all the stuff about writing....this morning, Mrs. cav literally wanted to toss out or burn all her manuscripts, and two years worth of work, including a fine novel. Artistic temperment? It took some doing, but I convinced her not to, because I think she has real potential. That made me smile today. Smile

Is making me smile too, cav. Tell the Mrs. that it's not allowed to give up.

Oh my, I'm glad she didn't, Cav. Unless she has it all backed up on the computer and it was just a theatrical gesture. Then she can go right ahead, might make her feel better, take a deep breath, and plunge back in in a bit.

Spent most of the day doing yardwork, trying to restore this hovel into something approximating what it was when we moved in (which includes replacing some deceased shrubbery -- NEE!). Had ripped up a big ragged sage bush (I'm a bit allergic to the stuff, so this involves some sniffling and wheezing) and tossed big chunks of it into the driveway. A robin (always the robins 'round here) flies down with big chunk of something-or-other in it's mouth, lands on a branch, and just looks at me. It sat there and watched me work for a full minute or two -- totally fearless little bastard. Always the wee animals.

Tomorrow will be day one of two weeks of shaving cat bellies before their reproductive bits are removed and whatnot. Always the wee animals...

Shaving cat bellies... if you have a webcam available, you could help Craven get his jollies.

Ooh, I don't, but perhaps I should consider.

Would he enjoy them when the fallopian tubes are pulled out and clamped, too? (Not so into the guts, myself. I think I'd be more inclined to operate on bones and the like.)

It may have just been my mood, but this had me laughing for about 5 minutes today.

End of a story about flash mobs in the NYT today, after a German tour guide had been told that the phenomenon started in New York:

"This is just the sort of thing that happens when you forbid New York to smoke."

Ah, ehBeth. The courage and resilience of the young. Still hate trickery in any form, but if you're smiling, so am I.

Misti...loved that polar bear hug, but I think that Roger's blush bled all over that picture. Pink Polars? Now that makes me smile. Very Happy

Something I came across. Apparently the medicine for a skin condition caused this polar bear some sudden notoriety:

Once the medicine does its job they can let him start swimming again and he'll return to his natural color.
