I just read my last post then my signature and LMAO.

In learning to read Tarot cards a few years back I did some reading on the theory as to why and how they "work" and how and why some people seem to be able to predict the future or see the past even though they hadn't yet been born. As the theory goes the subconscious mind has no concept of time. It doesn't know the difference between past, present, and future. The meditative state used by an honest Tarot reader can bring one's subconcious mind to the forefront in a semi-waking state and actually "see" the future or the past (as well as things they otherwise wouldn't know about the present). This is also why we dream about people who've long been dead as though they were still alive and seldom realise in those dreams that they shouldn't be there because they are dead. So, Misti, you're correct; he's always here.

Terry, so interesting that you read Tarot cards. Rae took it up some years ago, but for some reason, she's really uncomfortable reading for people she knows.

Just for what it's worth, Terry, James Michner wrote of his experience as a tarot reader at a benefit carnaval in his last book. It was spooky, and I think it scared him a little too. Sorry, can't recall the title, but it was more or less autobiographical. Life's experiences, anyway.

I learned how to read tarot cards but became uncomfortable reading them, too. I would like to read what Michener wrote about his experiences. I think that idea of tapping into the subconscious may be a pretty accurate way of describing what goes on... though some people scoff at the whole thing. Odd how many people get spooked.

That was a really nice dream about your dad, Terry. A good way for him to end it, too. It must have felt really good.

What made me smile today was my chow dog, Poppy. When she's concerned about something and I'm at my computer, she climbs up the side of my chair and armrest, ending up looking me straight in the eye with one paw on the armrest and the other pressing on my arm. She's a touchy-feely dog and this is her most direct way of getting attention. I've learned to disentangle her from the chair and then we go and see what it is... she'll lead me right to it... we've got our own "Lassie? What is it, girl?"-thing going on. This time it was a big black wasp inside the house that her sister Penny had cornered. Neither dog likes wasps. I thought, maybe they want me to dispose of it the way I did the wasp that was in the same window last night, so I got out the vacuum and vacuumed it up. They also hate the vacuum but both dogs sat side-by-side carefully watching me. When I was done and before I could vacuum them up, they dashed outside. They're funny.

Good evening...On some days it is tough to smile.
I jumped out of bed this morning at 6 hoping to spend the day mowing and trimming etc.
But the sky was gray. There was no breeze at all and a "Scottish mist" was falling. It went downhill from there. By noon, thunderstorms had rolled in, forcing us to unplug appliances.
I don't know how much rain we got between 1 and 3 pm. I suspect we got at least two or three inches.

Kids, grandkids, kittens and puppies can always make us smile.

My old dog is feeling a little grumpy today and maybe I am, too.

and johnboy apologizes for being a wet blanket. Johnboy fancies himself to be a pretty decent storyteller. He's pretty damn proud of some of the characters he has created in some of the "orignal writing" threads.

Please pick up where yall left off on "smiling today." -rjb-

Letty and johnboy are both excellent writers! Don't be grumpy...I will return to those threads and write something, too, as soon as I finish these prescriptions for back pain. They make concentration impossible. Meanwhile, I am just flitting around A2K, making brief comments.

Eva, I meant to comment before.
You said, a few weeks ago, that you were going on vacation for a while. And then you returned and mentioned your back problems.
I hope your vacation wasn't spoiled. We all wish you a speedy recovery.

Letty, I was a bit miffed at how casually you snuffed my bus lady. But you did it with aplumb. No hard feelings but I am sending a bus load of unmployed shiffletts to your house in Daytona. -rjb-
