Thank y'all for "Unchained Melody." I can't remember whether that song was involved with the second or third time I thought I was in love.
Misti, how did you remain (relatively) sane after a month of a house full of 18 year olds?
My parents lived into their 80's. Once a year or so, their children and the grandchildren would appear (like locusts, my mother might say).
What made me smile today was Misti's line about "...getting back to normal." I heard that so many times from my folks.

Thank you, Eva!
You're the reason I smiled today!
RJB:
Let's put it this way ... I'm as sane as I'll ever be, today!
My house is clean, there's nobody stopping by, the plants are watered and fed, the kitties are purring {they don't like company}, and we're all happy.
The company won't be back until next July!
I am obsessive/compulsive, and can't live without organization!
I can sympathize with your mom!
Please don't misunderstand, I love my nephew and his girlfriend, I just didn't expect to have them "hang out" with us old folks every single night! I would have thought they would want to be off on their own, having fun, sleeping on the beach, doing what teenagers love to do!
Ah well, times have changed:)
I'm not obsessive/compulsive. I can easily wait until next week, next month or next year to clean the house!
I know I smile almost every day, because when I post anything on A2K, I also show
. c.i.
NH:
Wish I were more like you and less like me ... but, we're all different, and that's a good thing:)
Watching my 9 year old son throw the bowling balls down the lane at the bowling alley. (cringe, smile, cringe, smile....)
Sitting a the window, trying to squeeze words for my novel onto the page. I hear a group of boys outside - 3 of them, teenagers, walking down the narrow pedestrian street.
One catches sight of the grafitti across from the window. The other two keep going - down the steps, around the corner. The first guy reads out loud in a thick, foreign-to-Holland accent.
"Rapping is something you do
Hip-hop is something you live"
Only he pronounces "live" so it rhymes with "sky dive". He's quiet for a second, then I hear him running to catch up with his friends to drag them back to the wall.
"Check this out, boys"
He reads it out loud again, like he's found the Ultimate Truth. Right there - on the wall outside my house. Imagine.
<g>
What made me smile today?
Misti called me 'friend'
What made me smile today ?
US is closed, so my phone wont be ringing off the hook in the afternoon !!
YYYIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Last night: i was walking home with a friend, back from the cafe we met at to downtown, and when we turn the corner around to the back of the city hall, where there's a little square, a cafe with a street terrace, and the city hall itself bulges out into modernist half-circles and niches and an imaginative fountainlike thing, a group of people turned out to have decided to make it into Buenos Aires. Had hung up two strings of coloured lights, put a ghettoblaster up at the steps where normally brides and grooms step up, tango music wafted into the evening, and ten, fifteen couples were dancing to it, swirling, stepping, posing. Spontaneous open-air dance class/get-together, why not. Cute.
Cool!
I smiled today because the mystery plants in my wildflower garden that I'd thought at one point were poppies and then feared were weeds, which would have been very bad news since they were all over the dang place, are actually some variety of black-eyed susans, which are now blooming in a lovely yellow and velvet-eyed way.
Tonight: passing the little square down the street - it has such pretty trees, slender with their short-cropped foliage. The leaves seemed to have a strange, almost alien colour tonight, very fresh green, at the same time almost translucent, very summery. Some trick of the light - almost the way you'd see them if you were on mushrooms. The row of small, round leaves on each branch almost seemed to resemble the trail of bubbles, that a fish sometimes leaves behind in the water.
thats nice too, sozobe, seems like the smile in our day today was of the same vibe ;-)
The new kitty woke me up this morning because she wanted attention. That's a good sign that she's settling in.
I'm late with this post, but I smiled today because I got tons done, all of which I had been putting off for ages. It must have been 110F in the shade, so I finished doing/shopping and got me home. It feels so good to get these things done, once and for all.
And, Jjorge, I always think of you as "friend" .... Yah just nevah know, do you?
I cant help smiling every time I see your avatar, TerryDoo ... <grins>
I went to a meeting and got the family together on time for a fireworks display - it was awesome to say the least!
"US is closed" ... that made me smile. <g>
I just got a call from Rae!!!! Now I can't go to bed because I'm all excited - and it is 1:30 am!
