Imagine

The world goes to its demise

And God forgot to make a back-up

After a sweltering, sticky night, a cool change this morning. Very Happy All my windows & doors are wide open to let in the fresh air & I'm enjoying making lasagne with a mushroom sauce. Flatty, my loyal feline companion, is comatose ... sprawled across the couch, off with the fairies in pussycat dreamland. Very Happy

Had my sister on the phone yesterday ... she told me the latest about my nephew. Last week they'd taken him for the first time to see his daddy play - my brother-in-law is a drummer. Either a concert or just a class he was teaching, I think the latter. When the kid (a year and a few months old now) saw him playing the drums, he just stood there, entranced - mouth open - wow.

Now he can't really talk yet - just a few words, "mama", "papa", "dog", "tree", that kind of thing. But he's now getting round to wanting to tell all kinds of things, even if he doesn't have the words yet. He's also a hyperenergetic kid, he can just run and run and run, you set him down and he just starts running. So, you can more or less imagine the scene in the car on the way back. They were sitting in the car, and J., in his toddler's chair, for all of the ten minutes of the trip - and ten minutes may sound like a short time, but imagine - excitedly exclaimed: "Papa! Papa Doing Doing! Papa Doing! Papa! Doing Doing! Doing Papa! Doing Doing!"

Hah, that reminds me. Old ska or rocksteady tunes, that now sound kinda funny in their word choice (but in a way they couldnt have anticipated back then) - two of 'em on my playlist yesterday:

"You've got to show them the way / because they are so young and so gay"

"It was a bright and sunny day / when every man was happy and gay"

You're sounding very down, Seed. I wish I could say something to make you feel better. Is this partly "Christmas Blues"?

A. brought around an amazing, huge basket full of fruit yesterday, sweet ... and since tomorrow I'm heading over to my sis to do Xmas with them and my father and I wanted to make something for the occasion, I'm now making strawberry muffins, for the first time ... (until now I only ever made cheese muffins) ... I'm curious how they'll turn out, but its cool to be trying and cooking, anyway ... planning to make some brownies too, still!
