OK, this one made me giggle

Quote:
LATE NIGHTS IN THE NEW YORK AG'S OFFICE: I'm a huge fan of Eliot Spitzer and I think the folks in his office are really doing God's work, but this passage in today's Journal struck me as a little suspicious:

When Don Tellock, now 34, was a lawyer in the office working on privacy issues, he would surf the Internet in search of leads. On Thanksgiving weekend 2002, he was having trouble sleeping and ended up hunched over a computer at 4 a.m. That's when he came across a story on how personal information about Victoria's Secret customers was available on the lingerie company's Web site.

Hmmm... Hunched over a computer at 4 a.m. googling "Victoria's Secret" over and over. This does not strike me as what we in the business call a "billable hour."

I am grinning as we speak. My boss and colleague and good friend just stopped by, brought me a huge bouquet and a basket with tea, chocolates, energy drinks and such to get through until friday, when my big talk at the university is! They'll be late to watch the Red Sox game, I am thoroughly touched!!!

Pleased as punch to see Jjorge and think Nimh should apply anyway, someone may read it, if not for this job but remember it for another. Some deadlines are less official than other official ones.. Some never really existed as the jobs were already divvied - who can tell? why not?

get 'im, dag. Review your notes tomorrow, have a nice dinner, go to bed at a reasonable hour and knock their socks off on Friday. Good luck from all of us.

Under an eclipse.... could they have done it under more dramatic circumstances?? I'm feeling pleased for the Bostonian a2kers who are surely all Red Sox fans.

Good Luck, Nimh.... hope they've been waiting for you to call.

And Dag... I dunno about washing clothes but I'm sure you'll do uber-great and be ultra-happy after.

Yep... I'm pretty sure all lunar eclipses occur during a full moon. It's still a full moon Very Happy but the eclipse is over now.

During the game they ran a clip about Johnny Damon with "Johnny Be Good" as background music. That song is, of course, by Chuck Berry (all hail) who, ironically enough, hails from...
St. Louis.

BIG smile. Sleepy smile. Smiling through a spumante-induced headache.

(hearing from msolga makes me smile) Hi msolga! Nice to see you too! Very Happy

Where have I been?

Well, I've been scurrying about doing all sorts of stuff....working on my new house and yard, trying to get my late mother's estate settled, traveling to Virginia to see my brother's new place...becoming a U.U....

What made you smile thread is not the right place for condolences, but I offer them here anyway because I can smile knowing that you were a good son to your mother, Jjorge. A very good son. <Hugs>

Smiled when I heard about the "Three foot Hobbit" of Prehistoric Times.

Quote:
The 3ft-tall 'hobbit' that rewrites the history of mankind
By Steve Connor and David Keys
28 October 2004

Scientists are celebrating the most important breakthrough in anthropology for a century: the discovery of a new species of apeman.

Described as human "hobbits", the apemen grew no taller than about 3ft and had brains the size of grapefruits. They lived alongside prehistoric man for thousands of years before they finally died out in the dense jungles of Indonesia, in a lost world inhabited by dwarf elephants and giant rats.

My uncle Ed. He's tough old buck from the WWII generation. At age 85, he had a gall bladder removed and came through the operation like a champ. The therapist was quite impressed at how fast he got back on his feet.
