Go back and read this thread from the start for details.

Only one thing works and it's not a diet, its a way of life: Burn more calories than you take in.

IG88 and vermilliongirl, welcome to A2K.

It's easier to make small changes that become permanent than to do a complete diet plan that you can stick with for a short while, but quickly fall back to bad habits.

I'm not sure there's one best plan for all teens, but keeping an eye on the junk food is certainly one thing that's easy to spot. One trick is never eat unless you're sitting at a table. Eat whatever you want (try to lean towards healthy choices), but not in front of the television, in the car, at the movies, by the computer, etc. It's amazing how much mindless eating we do and if you force yourself to eat for the sake of eating (hopefully to gain nourishment) and not because you're bored the extra calories you take in will go down.

Another simple change is to force yourself to do some small amount of exercise each day. Watching MTV?, do some jumping jacks. No one needs to know if you think they would laugh. Getting together with a friend?, ask her to go for a walk with you. Sometimes enlisting a buddy to help you stay focused is helpful.

The biggest tip is to stay focused on the big picture. Everyone falls into a bag of chips or cookies occasionally. Don't let that derail you. Just refocus and move forward.

JB you are too nice. These teens are not looking for advice- they are looking for a miracle. They are too lazy to read this thread which gives them all the advice they need, so I doubt they are going to pay attention to any other thread or adult wisdom. They think there is a magic solution just for them and it will not involve any real effort on their part. They all say they don't eat junk and they exercise - if that was true they would not be fat.

I agree with GW. Burn more calories than you eat. For some people this is easy. For others, it's very very hard.

It's true that not all fat people are lazy. But it's pretty obvious that these kids want a miracle, not a life change.

Case in point:
Quote:
i dont really eat alot...n when i do i dont eat junk food...well that often

Well, that often? Rolling Eyes I think it's probably more than not "that often". But I could be wrong.

I have no tolerance for whiners. Get off your lazy asses and exercise before you get too unhealthy to do so or if you feel like you have a food addiction and can't get healthy alone, see your doctor! There is no miracle cure for obesity. It's called a healthy diet and an active lifestyle.

I agree. I also think a lot of these girls need someone around to teach them about healthy body image.
I have this feeling that most of 'em don't really care about being fit or having fun with a healthy body.
It all seems to be about 'oh god, i'm fat. I don't like me and no one can like me when i am fat"

Find something you enjoy doing that doesn't revolve around sitting on your butt, eating crap, and agonizing over your belly.

Join the Weight Loss thread if you are serious. Visit your doctor. Don't just complain. Do.

So how long do you think it will be before some chubby teen posts their height and weight and asks how to lose weight?
Should we start a pool?

That's good. We all want to look our best but sometimes, the images we are presented with every day are unhealthy images that are unrealistic and unattainable by real women.

So remember that so long as you are healthy and you feel confident in yourself, nothing else matters!!

Confidence is far sexier than a 23 inch waist.

krazehchicka - for one you should not go broadcasting your email in a forum like this, if nothing else you will get tons of spam.

Did you read this thread????? There is some good advice on it
If you want more personal service go to Weight Watchers or Overeaters Anonymous.
