Hockey Hockey Hockey! I like the fans at hockey games. I like hockey. It's about the only game that doesn't make me want to peel my skin off.

Patiodog, I know what you mean about the group-think. It is perhaps notable that I spent the first several years of my life in Madison as a Vikings fan, and the last few years as a Packers fan in Chicago.

I understand. I grew up a Dodger fan a couple hours away from San Francisco. Even got doused with beer as a six-year-old for wearing my cap to Candlestick. (Looking back, I have to admire the commitment of that particular fan.)

Red, white, green, or gold. The Christmas before I left, the Badgers were about to play in the Rose Bowl (red and white) and the Packers were about to play in the superbowl (green and gold) and everyone just had Badgers and Packers paraphernalia up for Christmas decorations.

(We won both, too -- Rose Bowl and Superbowl. Ah, the glory days.)

Kelly green, gold and white. Those were my high school colours. Then my uni had black, red and gold - very nice and Germanic.

I think i'll go with red, unless I've made the switch to orange hair by then.

Purple-and-white would not be a good choice.

Nope.

Nor blue-and-orange.

A long twirly skirt, long dangly earrings, and a slightly funky jacket, and you'll fit RIGHT in, though.

You do realize the 90s are over, right? More like a child's tee shirt with something like "Easy Muff" on it, tight low-rider jeans, carefully unkempt blond hair, and enough foundation to build an office park on -- and you'll fit right in.

Foundation!?

Oh, the frosh from NYC, must be.

Nobody who lives near YOU looks like that, do they?

I do have to keep in mind that I'm out of date, Madison-wise. Been there once in 6 years, and that was 5 years ago.

Meanwhile, got my "On Wisconsin!", has some homecoming info:

Quote:
Parade, Pep Rally and Fireworks
6:00 PM, State Street and Memorial Union
The UW Marching Band will accompany the annual Homecoming parade down State Street, ending on the Union Terrace with a rousing pep rally. Fans of all ages come out to see this traditional community celebration with its extravagant floats. At 8:30 PM, find a spot on the Terrace for the Lights! Camera! Homecoming! fireworks display, unveiling of the week's awards, and live music.

Hmmm.

I started to say "Annual?? It must be some new-fangled thing, I've never heard of it", but then I remembered making fun of the frat boys making their floats. The floats did something, went somewhere, I just never found out what.

The good news is, looks like people will be down at the Union end of State, leaving the Great Dane end relatively free. Hopefully.

such a rebel, that swimpy.

i've just booked 2 nights in Manistique, 2 nights in Green Bay, confirmed the 2 nights in Madison. Amazing how many dog friendly hotels and motels there were to choose from.

Now to figure out the first and last night of the trip.

Flint/Lansing? Is there much difference between the two?

tomorrow - i book THE autumn hair appointment. It's autumn, so it's time to change my hair.

twirl twirl twirl

my favourite hair appointment of the year!

Manistique, Escanaba, Hiawatha National Forest - this is turning into a trip with some fascinating names attached. And that's before we get to timberlandko, swimpy, sozobe and peppermintpatiodog.
