Now that's comedy

No, it’s tragedy because journalism’s primary function is to report events that the people need to know when power is hiding corruption—and the MSM—like you and the VBNMW crowd here—suppress, lie, avoid and misrepresent the evils being committed by this administration and the power behind him.

When Rupert gets his own WWIII going and steals hundreds of billions from a country in real trouble, I’ll start posting about him.

https://www.thejc.com/news/politics/north-islington-clp-officers-'reject'-nec-vote-banning-corbyn-1IrY0hMPuEV3WkqYx7PxRQ

Labour party officers of Islington North Constituency have “rejected” a successful motion by the National Executive Committee (NEC) officially banning Jeremy Corbyn from standing as a candidate for the party at next general election and exiling him from the party he once led.

In a statement published on Twitter, Islington North CLP Officers said they “rejected” the NEC vote, and “strongly supported” a February 2020 statement from Sir Keir Starmer in which he said ‘Local Party members should select their candidates for every election.’”

The group said: “We believe in the democratic right of all constituency parties to choose their prospective parliamentary candidate. Therefore, we reject the NEC’s undue interference in Islington North, which undermines our goal of defeating the Conservatives and working with our communities for social justice.”

In a vote of 22 to 12 on Tuesday, the National Executive Committee (NEC) approved the motion brought by Starmer to prevent his predecessor from reselection as the party’s candidate in the constituency he has represented for 40 years.

Richard Medhurst and Noam Chomsky discuss the dollar, the mechanism of US sanctions.

I think big changes are ricocheting across the globe. The bullying the US has always gotten away with wasn’t based on our own strength, but the strength we’ve derived from Saudi mostly—based on their acquiescence to our bargaining to make the dollar global oil currency.

If we’d appreciated that great coup and bent over for Saudi when asked (which we have done in glorious fashion for decades), we might have remained a stable country, but we stood on the shoulders of that favor and ruined other countries, used the favor to bark orders at the rest of the world. We took that favor and lunged back at the world with it, acting as though we were the power behind the petrodollar, and threatened the rest of the world with it.

The US has wielded sanctions like a nuclear weapon, threatening to cut off from this life blood any country that doesn’t do exactly as we command.

This is primarily why we are hated globally. We’ve been the bossy bully of the world. We’ve made life miserable for so many other countries, subverting the way of life they chose with coups and our own puppet regimes. We’ve caused so much death and destruction. We’ve been the undisputed tyrant of the world.

To add insult to injury, our govt claims all of this death and destruction was perpetrated in the pursuit of…democracy. It’s horseshit. Everyone knows it. The US govt has made the word democracy a joke.

People were afraid to laugh before, though. We held that loaded petrodollar gun to the heads of the entire world. ‘We’ll wreck your world with sanctions. Do as we say.’

But that gun was loaded for us daily by Saudi.

We’re still shouting orders and threats, waving our gun around, but today the world is laughing. They all know that today, Saudi handed us an unloaded gun.

Brazil, China strike trade deal agreement to ditch US dollar
China overtook the United States as Brazil’s top trading partner in 2009

Brazil and China have reportedly struck a deal to ditch the U.S. dollar in favor of their own currencies in trade transactions.

The deal, announced Wednesday, will enable China and Brazil to carry out trade and financial transactions directly, exchanging yuan for reais – or vice versa – rather than first converting their currencies to the U.S. dollar.

After many of the folks I follow recommended this piece, I finally got around to reading it. It's long but very well written and the logic of it both readily accessible and compelling. And it is important.

Russia's FSB security agency said today that it had arrested Wall Street Journal Moscow correspondent Evan Gershkovich.

Until its downfall the ‘Third Reich’ wooed, persuaded, deceived and threatened its foreign correspondents. If all means of ‘direction’, ‘prescribed terminology’ and ‘press control’ failed, the regime did not hesitate to isolate, imprison and expel foreign journalists. Nevertheless, they remained a power which the National Socialist regime from a media historical perspective took account of in a modern way until the very end.

Just saying.

At some point I will do a thread treating the often used "he is a RINO" by MAGA Republicans...to be a variant of the "no true Scotsman" fallacy.

It definitely is!

Leaked documents offer fascinating insights into Russian cyber warfare

Quote:
The Russian government allegedly hired a Moscow-based defense contractor to help its intelligence agencies enhance their cyber capabilities and spread disinformation online, according to corporate documents obtained by The Washington Post.

The documents, which contain more than 5,000 pages, suggest that the defense contractor, NTC Vulkan, aided Russian intelligence agencies with social media disinformation and “training to remotely disrupt real-world targets, such as sea, air and rail control systems.”

The Post, which has seen the documents in question, said that they contain “internal company emails, financial records and contracts that show both the ambition of Russia’s cyber operations and the breadth of the work Moscow has been outsourcing.”

The news outlets said that the documents were provided by an anonymous individual who shared it first with a German reporter. The German journalist then shared it with a group of news outlets that included The Post.

The anonymous whistleblower allegedly expressed outrage and disapproval of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“The company is doing bad things, and the Russian government is cowardly and wrong,” the individual allegedly said, referring to NTC Vulkan as the company.

“I am angry about the invasion of Ukraine and the terrible things that are happening there,” the whistleblower said. “I hope you can use this information to show what is happening behind closed doors.”

A number of Western intelligence officials and independent cybersecurity experts who reviewed the documents believe them to be authentic, The Post reported.

“These officials and experts could not find definitive evidence that the systems have been deployed by Russia or been used in specific cyberattacks, but the documents describe testing and payments for work done by Vulkan for the Russian security services and several associated research institutes,” The Post said.

Last year, cybersecurity firm Mandiant released a report that found that Russian-backed hackers launched several disinformation campaigns intended to demoralize Ukrainians and incite internal unrest.

In one of the campaigns, the hackers falsely claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky died by suicide in a military bunker in Kyiv because of his failure to keep his country safe from Russian invasion.

The report also found that Russian-backed actors used Telegram, a popular social media platform, to spread disinformation including that the Ukrainian government was corrupt and incompetent and that the country was unprepared for the war.

Mandiant said that the disinformation campaigns it identified happened at the same time as disruptive cyberattacks that targeted Ukrainian government websites.

Despite the Russian government’s attempts to launch destructive cyberattacks against Ukraine, many of them failed to be as damaging or were thwarted by the Ukrainians who have had significant assistance from the U.S. and the EU in shoring up their cyber defenses.

@hightor,
Since the Süddeutsche Zeitung and SPIEGEL were heading those investigations, those researches about NTC Vulkan etc are of greatest interest here.
Especially, since former employees of the Moscow intelligence supplier Vulkan are now working here in the West, e.g. at former employees of the Moscow intelligence supplier Vulkan now work in the West, e.g. at Amazon Web Services (AWS) (as "Senior Software Development Engineer"), Siemens, Booking, Trivago ...

Just saying.

Whistleblower Julian Assange is being tortured to death by the American government for publishing files proving that the DNC and Clinton campaign propped up Donald Trump with the help of their media mouthpieces. They are also proven to have cheated the Sanders campaign.

After Edward Snowden released documents proving that the US govt illegally spies on American citizens, he has to flee to Russia to avoid Assange’s fate.

MBS ordered the death by dismantling of journalist Khashoggi and Biden who promised, among many other intentional lies, to hold MBS accountable, continues to beg for deals and has said MBS was above recriminations.

Just saying.
