Today's warn strike brings our public transport network to halt, yes.
But you are correct: many are protesting against this strike (50% pro vs 50% against it).

We didn't have such for a couple of years.
(Neither union has yet announced the failure of negotiations. Offers are on the table, even if they are not yet considered sufficient. At Verdi, the third round of negotiations begins today in Potsdam, which is often the decisive one. The EVG is negotiating with the railways for only the second time at the end of April.)

@Lash,
More unions joins the nationwide strike called by the General Organization of Workers in Israel this morning, in protest of the government's ongoing judicial coup - named by the right "judicial overhaul legislation".

@Walter Hinteler,
I’ve been watching that. Netanyahu and Macron seem to have gone too far. I don’t see how either of them can weather this response.

More anti democratic moves against the most people-responsive representatives—in this case Jeremy Corbyn.

@Lash,
I don't know why you call it anti-democratic since it was approved by the party's National Executive Committee (NEC).

I think you are making it far too easy for yourself if you make your very own ideas the standard for laws and statutSir Keir Starmer’s move to block Jeremy Corbyn from running to be a Labour MP at the next election has been backed by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).es, especially for those in other countries.

However, it would be advantageous if you would read up on the English party system and the statutes of the Labour Party in particular before posting such nonsense.

Corbyn running as an independent in the north London constituency where he retains significant support will most probably cause a distracting challenge for Sir Keir at the next election.

The people of Islington have chosen Corbyn consistently since 1983? (Working from memory, so…)

It’s anti democratic for a bunch of xenophobic buffoons to trump up lies against a guy because they don’t like him and make him ineligible.

Democracy is the people choosing, not some bribed, corrupt bootlickers.

The disgusting Labour NEC has voted to prevent Corbyn standing as Islington North Labour representative.

This is undemocratic & Stalinist. Jeremy must stand as an independent & form a new socialist Party.

Just one tweet of many similar. Not sure I’d attribute it to Stalinism just yet, but there you are.

Corbyn has won the London seat of Islington North for Labour at each of the last 10 general elections.

Islington North includes the densely populated and multicultural suburbs of Finsbury Park, Canonbury, Highbury and the northern part of Holloway, while Emily Thornberry is the (Labour) MP for Islington South and Finsbury.

You should form an opinion: either Independent or new socialist party.

But why a new socialist party? There are already some in England (and even more in the UK).

That's what they can do at the next election, like anyone else who is qualifying to vote at general elections.

Might be so. But England (and other party in the UK) still have a different system. (To qualify for the ballot, candidates needed nominations from 10 per cent (22) of the party's Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of European Parliament (MEPs), followed by support from either 5 per cent (33) of Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs), or from at least three affiliated groups, including two trade unions ...)
[In Germany, it differs from party to party, but only party members are involved ... ]

It is said that Corbyn is considering running as an independent candidate in Islington North.
So, voters of Islington North will have choices (six candidates from different parties were running in 2019, I think, Corbyn getting a loss of −11.8).

NB: Corbyn remains a Labour member, but is sitting as an independent after he was suspended over his failure to offer an appropriate response to the damning EHRC report on antisemitism in 2020.
