Isn't it so often the case that you get a cold just as you start a holiday? Bad luck Olgs, have a hot toddy of whisky and honey and lemon and a good long sleep - the curry will have helped!
It's strange how things can go wrong but you feel fine, or other days things go fine but you feel bad. Today I've got the potential bill for my roof repairs, £8800. There's water pouring in as I type. Yet I am actually in quite a cheerful mood. Odd.

Whisky! Why didn't I think of that, Clare! Razz

Did you say £8800 for roof repairs? Shocked That's something in the (very rough) vicinity of $200K Oz dollars, yes? Shocked

"There's water pouring in as I type. Yet I am actually in quite a cheerful mood. Odd."

I reckon it's probably either that or pull your hair out!
(I really hope there are some more affordable solutions to the problem.)

Stay cheerful, Clare!

Oh we DO want to know, Bella!
(um, you didn't trip over one of those wild ducks, did you?)
But what bad luck, however it happened. I hope things have improved over the day! Very Happy

Odd that Clary should post about her roof. I have a roof problem of my own, but I am lucky that I have no leaks; however, I signed a contract to let professional roofers do the job, and got presented with a form on Florida's lien law.

Here's the part that concerns me:

You may be liable if you pay your contractor and he then fails to pay his suppliers. I'm not certain exactly what to do. As yet, I haven't heard one word from the roof folks, and I am beginning to get a mite uneasy.

More roofing problems! (I'd better check mine!)

Letty, I was wondering if you could take out some sort of short term insurance policy to cover the contractor while he's working for you? But what perplexes me is this: How come he doesn't have an insurance policy, anyway? That's pretty standard, yes?

But the most important thing, Letty, is how are YOU, my dear? How is life treating you?
Very Happy

Feeling fine today, too. Not sure how large the bill of £8800 would be in Aussie dollars. Unfortunately someone has said estate agents don't like this system of insulation I'm having done, a foam spray that is breathable and hardens, keeping slates in place. So it may put the value of my house down Sad
But as I said, feeling fine. Lots happening, people coming to see me etc. That helps!!

I am tired, I am sleepy and I am dishevelled (my hair cut was due three weeks ago, and I havent had time to get it cut and hence....)

I need a break, I need a coffee, I need sex, I need a bf, and most of all I need a new car.

I cant wait to go on my holiday and get pampered by my mom for three weeks

Sorry, but you asked for it...

Oh, don't be sorry, G! This is what this thread is for: to tell it as it is!

"I need a break, I need a coffee, I need sex, I need a bf, and most of all I need a new car."

At least, despite your exhaustion, you've retained your sense of humour! That's a very good sign! Very Happy

So, when is your next holiday? Where to?

Any interesting bf material on the horizon, or are you too busy?

I won't comment on the sex bit, being quite modest about these things.

And ask your assistant to order you a new BMW! You deserve it!Very Happy

There! Most problems solved! Aren't you glad you posted? Laughing

TRA-LA-LA!!

Today.....just this minute in fact......I AM OVER THE BLOODY MOON!

My son has just phoned, to say that he has received his University results, and that he achieved a "2.1" Degree in Marine Biology.

He is now fully entitled to wear a white coat, grow a beard and fiddle with various sea creatures.

This 2.1 now means that he has been accepted into the Masters Degree intake that he has been aiming for.

That's great news, Ellpus. Congrats to your son and to proud Dad.

I'm unbelievably frustrated. I've been trying to lose 10 stubborn pounds since January. Just 10 pounds!!! What's so hard about losing 10 lbs? I fear that as I approach 50 my body has taken on a mind of it's own and all the tricks, efforts and hard work in the world aren't going to change anything. Frustrating, incredibly frustrating.

Yay Lordlet Ellpus. Ellpuslet. This isn't quite working.

Nice day, sunny and summery and hot but I don't mind the hot as long as there is enough rain (there has been) and there is a pool nearby (there is.) Trying to get myself in the mood to work, have a really dorky badly-written assignment to edit and trying to force myself to bypass the stupendously badly written but grammatically correct sentences and just tackle the grammatically incorrect sentences so I can spend closer to the slated 45 minutes rather than 4.5 hours. (Why do I always lapse into run-on sentences when I mention editing...?)

Nope, fell down some stairs. Doing laundry. Must mean I should stop having to do the laundry right?

Today, I am so happy I could crap myself!

I have been working on a very difficult, frustrating and time-consuming project for the last 6 months and today I finally completed it and the client is raving about my work (aw shucks). I feel fabulous.

On top of that, my sister is arriving from Ireland in three hours - gotta skip out early to the airport to pick her up,

and ... as if that's not good enough - we are both flying to Hawaii this weekend to spend two weeks in the sun, drinking Mai Tai's and ogling cute surfer-boys.
