I doubt it Eva although I've told my boss that we neeed to make sure that upper management knows about this. If anyone does anything it will be EPA. The have a criminal investigations unit. EPA may fine the City a hefty amount. But then again they might not. We'll just have to wait and see what happens now.

Today?: Today I'm very weary.
Why?: I went to bed around midnight last night & set the alarm for 5 am instead of 6 am.
Why?: I have no idea, but it has totally stuffed up my day. <yawn>
What are ya, msolga?: Stoopid, that's what! Rolling Eyes

I'm off work with a very heavy cold.

...and it's been raining all night (not men unfortunately)

It's a proper gloomy Manchester day.

I don't want the summer to be over msolga...

It was a particularly memorable one for me.

Are you going on holiday this summer?

Know what you mean...

But at least you are guranteed the weather!

Where do Aussies go on holiday?

Do you go to more temperate climates to escape the heat (quite the reverse in UK - as you know)

Do you have an Australian equivilent to say... Blackpool?

The Oz equilivent of Blackpool used to be Kuta Beach (Bali)!
Just kidding, but seriously, a far cheaper holiday could be had there than at many Oz "resort" places. (I used to avoid it like the plague when holidaying in Bali.)
But, you know what happened there. Sad
A lot fewer tourists in Bali now. (From Oz at least.)
A lot more folk staying home these days. Times are pretty tough for many ordinary folk.

A calculated leak to the local media can sometimes be helpful in making sure it doesn't go unnoticed, swimpy.

I hope it doesn't come to that. I think the regulatory process will work. My department may even do a press release so that the residents of the City know what's going on. I've got my Notice of Violation prepared and it will go in today's mail. These things take time, so I have to be patient ant let things take their course. But believe me, I will not let it drop.

Tonight I'm absolutely pooped.
Off to bed very soon.

Why? Well I had a very long day. Beginning with a 5 am start. <blink>
I joined a good friend & her Vietnamese/Buddhist husband on a Buddhist new year celebration. Twelve busloads of Vietnamese folk (& we 3) visited ten different Buddhist temples (Vietnamese, Tibetan, Sri Lankan, Chinese & Cambodian) in different locations across the city of Melbourne. We lit incense sticks & made new year wishes, ate some great food & were blessed a number of times in between longish trips from temple to temple. It was great fun but took hours & hours & hours, finally finishing around 6 pm.
I expect to start getting very lucky tomorrow! Very Happy

Thanks, Clare.

And about time, too! I could do with a bit of that! Very Happy

Oh, and I forgot the Taiwanese!

My favourite group of the lot.: The Cambodians. They got their dates mixed up & were quite surprised when 12 busloads of people suddenly emerged out of nowhere & descended on their little temple! But they took it in their stride & declared that it was very nice anyway, a pleasure! Then smiled a lot & spoke to us with much warmth, then continued with their chanting.

Well, it's Sunday February 25 and it's snowy-rainy all day. I got up super early to work at the farmers market where I sell fruit and vegetables for an organic farmer. Hardly anyone showed up at the market, so it was excruciatingly boring. But, I got some really nice organic produce.

These side benefits help compensate a bit on miserable days, hey Gala? Very Happy

So what produce was in season & at it's best today? I'm rather curious, from the other side of the planet.

msolga, the produce is the ultimate benefit. Here's what I took home:

Swiss Chard
Dinosaur Kale
Avocado
Celery
Oranges
Pear
Portobella Mushrooms
Cauliflower
Swiss Cheese
Red Onion
Shallots
Garlic
Broccoli
Carrots
Rutabega
Red Cabbage

It's a lot. I know, but it's one of the perks of the job. This particular Market is an interim experimental one, until the regular Market begins on the first week of May and goes till December. The regular Market is outdoors, on a Sunday and is always crowded, busy.

One more thing, I live in Maryland (Eastern Corridor) and she shipped the stuff in from California. During the regular season she gets all her produce from local farmers, it's a big rule of the Farmer's Market: locally grown.

Come Spring, she'll have Strawberries and Asparagus.

Thanks for asking. I'm very proud of my organic booty. It's one of the more enjoyable things in my life at the moment.

Wow, Gala! Surprised

I'd consider doing that job without pay if I could take all that home! And organic, too! That's terrific!

I asked because I was genuinely interested. Our available fruit & veg (here in Oz) are definitely not at their best at the moment. The drought has taken it's toll I'm afraid. So I'm getting a bit of vicarious enjoyment via you! Very Happy

So, what's for dinner tonight, then?
Can I come?

msolga, I've already eaten tonight, so c'mon over t'morry, okay?

I had: sauteed Red Onions and Portobella Mushrooms with Cilantro (I forgot to mention the Cilantro) in olive oil. I let those cook for a while and then I threw in some Salmon. I steamed some of the Kale, Chard and Broccoli.

It was a good meal. I haven't had that good of a meal in a long time because this is the first market I've worked since December. I've been buying organic produce at the outrageously expensive Whole Foods in between, but it doesn't compare to the quality of this food.

Reality is, msolga, I would ask you to come work for her as she is always looking for people. But, I would insist you get paid, because as great as the produce is, and it is great, you earn every penny and every vegetable you work for.

Plus, regardless of today's meager showing, she makes a lot of money selling this stuff. From May to December her take is about $160,000. I am not kidding you. On a regular Sunday I hand over anywhere between $400 to $600 and there are 5 of us working the stand. That comes to at least $2,000 for a Sunday from 6:30am-12pm.
