Well I guess I have to take your word for that personal family factoid. But that's worlds different than claiming it's "correct" according to the party itself. Use it if you insist, but it's not correct. I'm proud of the Democratic party and what it stands for (since the Dixiecrats left). Words matter

Whether you wish to take my word or not is a matter of unconcern to me. You raised the question and I responded. Perhaps you should read some more historical material. Your rather picky concern about a trivial matter of useage is reflective of the increasingly absurd, but widespread concern about PC word choice that is infecting our society. I don't buy it.

Would you call Strom Thurmand a member of the "Dixiecratic" wing of the Democratic party??? I doubt it.

Well, your first response was to refer me to the party because that was the term they used for themselves. then you say you use it because of your daddy. Now you're saying the whole idea is a trivial waste of time. That's all fine. Inconsistent and specious, but fine with me. Your concerns or unconcerns won't lose me any sleep either.

@snood,
Yeah, should have left it alone, was trying to keep from addressing my remarks to the one who made them.

@bobsal u1553115,
If I had to guess, I think he is going out in the spotlight so to speak now to see how viable a run would be to see if it is worth the effort.

I don't know you guys...
Right after Colbert basically asked Biden on his show to run, Biden has a 'secret' meeting with one of Hillary's past largest donors. Then today, they're leaking the word that Jill (the wife) is on board. And I just now heard biden is talking about getting ready to go on a cross country speaking thing to tout women's rights. Like I said, I don't know, but this doesn't sound to me like someone leaning away from running.

@bobsal u1553115,
well that's a bit awkward. Joe appeals to the people who'd go for Sanders. I suspect that's not how it's supposed to work out.

Is that what you think? Well, I think you are incapable of concealing a uniquely disgusting combination of ignorance and hubris. Isn't it great that we all have our opinions?

I like that Ring of Fire exists, and I read them, but I think I may stop. Isn't this some of the worst-sourced, most opinioonated copy in public print-spaces?

But I saw this and dragged it up. Biden rubbing hands together?

The latest buzz is it's come down to calculating the correct timing for, and wording of an announcement.

@snood,
All of this, in my opinion, emphasizes what many of us have thought since the rise in popularity of Warren and Sanders: This country is heaving through a sea change.

Something different this way comes.

Why do you think a sitting Veep who has no personal political aspirations would come in against the clintonmachine? (I realize I strung a hell of a lot of connotation in there...but really.) I'd love to hear varied opinions. To those that say - to salvage the Dem presidency, wouldn't they just campaign like hell for HER? Fight in the media for HER? Circle wagons around her?

I just don't think that's it. But if there is someone out there who does, convince me. I'm dying to know the back room story.

@snood,
Given that Sanders and Biden have a lot of the same constituency, it could have unanticipated consequences.

I think it's highly possible that if Biden makes the leap and gets in, it's not out of any particular animus against Hillary, but because he thinks he has a better skillset and qualifications for the job. I think Biden actually cares about who can do the most for the common good.

@snood,
I accept that point, but the action of entering now against a colleague runs in diametric opposition to established mores of status quo party politics. Biden is glove-slapping her.
