I want an MG TD. I had a chance to buy one in mint condition in 1968 when I was at university, and felt I had to pass on it because I didn't want to spend the $1800 the woman was asking. It was in mint condition, and the woman literally never drove it--it was her husband's car, and she sold it off after his death. That would have been quite the investment. It would also have been worth it to have it to drive.

I bought a 1966 GTO in 1968, duel exhausts, 389/335, 4 on the floor, I loved that car but it kept me broke......But I was very young and it was worth it.

I don't remember the dog dish hubcaps, had to look close because I thought you meant baby moons. Some jerk stole all the original hubcaps off my Goat at a nightclub....didn't have the money to replace them right away so I put on the baby moons.....Seemed OK at the time.

@glitterbag,
The 'goat' was a great fun car. 389, yeah, the right motor.
Naw, dog dish is for stock hubcaps, like you see on most cop cars (makes'em easy to spot : )
Baby moons are cool on the right car.

@oralloy,
Yep, as an under $600 upgrade the Ram Air IV was a good deal.
The stupid plastic front splitter on my whip was more than twice that.

@glitterbag,
I owned a Caddy many decades ago. It was a great car, because it had horsepower, and it was a comfortable ride.

@cicerone imposter,
now adays, we can get a 2.5 cc mini car that can generate 700 Bhp and top out twice what your old caddie could do. AND, with huge gas economy numbers. Back in the 60's my dad had a huuuuge 460 Ci Olds 98 that could fit half the town comfortably. I swar that thing got 4 mpg.
Times has changed and science has handed the car designers the physics to not hqve to use just ngine displacement to "go fast"

@farmerman,
I now drive a 2006 Acura TL with less than 55,000 miles on it. I don't drive all that much, because my wife drives most of the time. I'm lucky if I put on 300 miles/year. I do like my car, and hope to keep it for the duration.

I used to own a '72 Buick Electra with a 455 ci engine. It was a boat, and got 8 mpg.
