OB, I'm trying again with one I think you will like:

Monteverde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica
http://www.webshots.com/g/tr/hr-sh/32776.html

It still doesn't work. Must be my computer.

Re: OB
BBB,

You need to make sure that the image file name ends with ".jpg" or ".gif" you've pasted an ".htm" link into the img code.

BBB,

You need to right-click on the picture and click properties - that will give you the proper address, which is:

Jer, I've tried exactly that several time. Just won't work on my computer.

I recall that Craven once said that AOL won't always work on A2K's system.

I should switch over to MSNBC system and see if that makes a difference.

I think you should just throw it out the window. It would be far more exciting that way

If it makes you feel any better BBB, I can't post pics either. I am pic-illiterate. Embarrassed

Okay...I assume you're using the AOL browser?

It seems that you're getting the wrong address all the time...the htm addy instead of the actual image (.jpg/.gif) address.

The other way to get the address for an image is to click "View->Source" and then look for the image name and link in the source code.

Maybe CDK will pop round to do some more explaining...but you should be able to paste the proper link in.

Try copying and pasting this link in:

BBB, try leaving your AOL (plagueware) running in the background, and open an "Internet Explorer" window from your Start-> Programs menu. Repeat the process from there and it should work just fine. It sounds like AOL (plagueware) is your problem.

Jer's suggestion of trying to paste this link:
http://www.monteverdeinfo.com/photo_stock/jungle_costa_rica-2.jpg directly into the blank that pops up when you hit "IMG" will prove that AOL is indeed the problem.

Just an aside: I'm here on A2K from the very beginning onwards and never had any difficulties because of my AOL.

Hey Walter... how's the non smoking?

Maybe you could share your method with BBB for posting pics?

Oh, and Jer: Rather than using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V I uses Ctrl + Insert for Copy and Shift + Insert for Paste. Old habitsÂ…

Well, that didn't work using OB's suggestion but at least I got the little image box with the red X in the middle, which is more than I got before. There IS hope!

So I tried OB's suggested test and this is what happened:

http://www.monteverdeinfo.com/photo_stock/jungle_costa_rica-2.jpg

I got the photo posted - YEAH! But, now what?

That first one looks fine, actually, BBB. I believe the website is blocking the Picture's use. Try repeating the experiment (capturing a picture from Internet Explorer) on one of the pictures you see working... like the one you just posted.

Some websites block the use of their pictures in this fashion... (Presumably to save bandwidth?).

Now that was weird. There was no picture on BBB's post when I first looked. Then I went to get a popsicle out of the freezer and came back and there was a picture. Gremlins?

Gremlins yes. But we have scientifically proved that it is the woolies under the bed that eat the socks. There is no Sock Knome. Or maybe that's a regional thing?

As for the picture project, I can do this (I tell self). I am copying and pasting all the great suggestions for how to do it and sometime today or tonight I will post a picture. Or cry. Whichever comes first.

Meanwhile, weekly gold stars for Obill, Jer, Kristie!!!!......Swolf and Heeven have not checked in in ages? Who else is still on the wagon for gold stars?

Perhaps....I do know that somewhere between wash and fold socks go missing...and it's awful trying to explain to one sock what happened to it's mate. Crying or Very sad

There is no Sock Knome (Gnome?). Socks decompose in the dryer. Where do you think all that lint comes from?

Yeah, I can't spell.... it is "g"nome.

So it's worse than I thought....now I have to tell the mates the sock has been incinerated by the heat of the dryer? Oh the horror! Shocked
