Since I never smoked I shouldn't even write in this thread... But I just want to let you know that BigDice is still smoke-free for more than a year now! I am very happy and proud!

I'm smoking now (again and still) by free will and my owm decission.

And I'm stopping on the 4th of May due to the stupid circumstances that I can't smoke for about 14 hours or so. So why should I smoke in Chicago only to be stopped again 10 days later for an even longer period when flying back from Albuquerque?

And when I'm not allowed to smoke for such a long period I can quit as well.

Free will, but not voluntarily. :wink:

Very good thinking, Walter! And also, there are so few places in the US where you are allowed to smoke... It's not worth the hassle!

urs53, I am quite glad to see you. Bigdice tells me you might be interested in a menage-a-trois.

That would be quite exciting for me because I understand you have a little German blood.

How about the end of June? My people will stay in touch with your people.

@panzade,
Hang in there, Panz.
I smoked a great deal over 20 years, quit once, started again in a boring meeting (borrowing one). That lasted more months. Quit cold a second time, and that time it took. I figured the need would stick with me forever and a day, but it didn't. Don't remember exactly how long, but the need passed.

I do remember my attempts to soften the blow by keeping a toothpick on my lips/between my teeth (a fellow lab tech's idea). I think that somewhat worked, but of course I looked silly when I did that.

That was in 1982.

@panzade,
I quit about 30 years ago and today I actually get sick when I smell stale cigarette smoke . Try to envision stale smoke, its odor, and what you would smell like.

Good luck pan. the sooner you do it the quicker yer body will exude those toxins and **** in your lungs.

@ossobucotemp,
To correct, my falling off was more than a few months - it took me a couple of years to go back.

i think I skipped the tooth picks the second time.
