It's worse than you think, Kristie. They've had to watch their mates disintegrate. (Assuming you launder them together.) Oh, the horror.....

I need to start reading this thread often again so that I can find some motivation to quit, hopefully.

I incidentally ran across a very good website today. It sort of summarizes all the things we've talked about on this thread and may be helpful to those of you-Obill, Jer, Kristie and others who are now confirmed non-smokers but still thinking about it now and then.

http://www.raskys.com/qsmoke.html

Personal note: I gained 60 pounds while smoking 3 packs a day. I was not successful in losing weight UNTIL I quit smoking. However, as weight gain can be a fear/problem for some, it can be mostly avoided by increasing physical activity 20 minutes a day until your metabolism adjusts to doing without nicotine.

Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

I am here to officially sell my seat on the non smoking bandwagon. Since there isnt a smoking section , I cant ride.

yes

I am smoking. This is the 3rd attempt in 20 years to stop smoking . AND I have no excuse but being too lazy to put forth the little effort it took to stop. Embarrassed Embarrassed No wonder cigarette companies make so much money. It really is hard to quit. I thought I had it licked. I was approaching 2 years. Then my aunt died and stressful habit...puff puff. Well. I was semi successful in walking away from the stress breaker that pack offered. But she died in July......I picked these little bast-turds up a few weeks ago. No excuse. grr... My husband even picked up a few here and there too.. Ohhhh the shame.. I feel like I should be singing Pumbaa's fart song from Lion King.. oh well. Confused Embarrassed Sad

Darn Shewolf, but I don't blame you or fault you. Quitting is so damn easy I did it dozens of times before it finally took. And then as I have shared, after three years of nicotine sobriety, I tried 'just one' and in no time was back to three packs a day for the next several years--with intermittant attempts to quit. This last time took and I'm more than 10 years a non smoker now. I won't risk even 'just one' ever again.

Just check in for a hug now and then and one day you'll decide to set your quitting date again. And I'm gonna guess this thread will be here for you. Smile

There is still time! Just because you picked up again doesn't mean you can't set it down!

My hubby is currently struggling with this problem. He cut back to about 3-4 cigs a day, sometimes less, sometimes more but he just can't cut the umbilical cord....I keep telling him to just do it but he is being a baby. Oh well. I suppose he will quit in his own time. Or I will kill him one of the two.

Shewolf, you can do it! You've done it before and I know you can do it again!!! Keep trying...there is no shame in falling. Come on...there's an empty seat next to me on the wagon.... Very Happy

thank you fox. Though i dont feel embarassed at all, it is still nice to hear that from someone.

I am not embarassed just frustrated. My arrogance allowed me the ' just one' and my addiction said ' no way'.
>sigh<
I will be here every chance I get. I am already working down the amounts of smokes I have a day. I am very lucky though, in 20 years of smoking, i have YET to smoke more then a pack a week. BUT,,, it is still smoking. and that sucks.
